lee said it made around 180hp, without the charge cooler up and running and at low boost! (because the tuners didn't want to run the newly rebuilt engine flat out) its gonna go back when its run in and should made another 30hp more

They wouldnt run it at more than 0.9 of a bar and was set up on 95 ron, the charge cooler wasnt connected and due to the engine been brand new they limited the revs.
However it still made 181bhp @ 6000 and 189lbf torque@ 4500rpm. The torque figures are quite good and im not going to alter anything until im happy with the engine. Emerald recon its more likely be 200bhp on the road.
As i said im not after loads of bhp, I want to make a reliable track/road car and the car feels great on the road and pulls really strong in the mid range.
Im booked in at Elvington next month for my first track day. so i will see how she goes. Id rather sacrifice HP and have a few track days than build engines every few weeks, as its no fun!!!!

what were the ACT's like without the charge cooler??
Be interesting to see what the ACT's are like when its fitted!
I imagine youve still got a way to go with upping the boost provided you can keep the ACT's low enough and the AFR's safe!!

I imagine the oil cooler will help a lot too.

I'm liking it a lot, you live around the York area then ?
I've been looking around the net for ages about turboing/charging the 1.7 lump and never found much.
Is it a new block you've got ? the liners look sweet.
Might have to invesitgate the track day at Elvington myself, only standard green puma mind you

Warren, havnt got a clue what the charge temp readings were, defo wont be low. AFR's richen to about 11:1 at max torque and power readings.
Stock radiator at the moment, im going to get bigger rad and alter the fan set up later on.

If it does it knows where the rad cap is...................
I will see in next few weeks what it runs like and hopefully the track day is more of a test day. Im going to have probs, im sure. This car all bar its dash has been stripped and rebuilt, so im sure somethings going to fall off.............

Just a quick update,
I had the car tracked up today, only slightly out. Im still waiting for new bonnet to arrive and new graphics kit ive had made.
Its all ready for wednesdays track day. Going to cover front bumper with clear sticky back plastic as ive heard Elvington can be a bit harsh with the stone chips.
Quite looking forward to my first ever outing, hope its as good as everyone says!!!!

Thanks
Sticky stuff going on front bumper, bonnet on car is just a spare bonnet while my other is being painted. Track day is next wednesday. It wouldnt pull paint off as its the same stuff you make graphics out of, but well worth using to stop stone chips!!! Tip of the Day!!!
