Frp #191 - Needs New Engine!

Very sad to say that after 94000 miles FRP #191 has died And now not sure whether to sell or put a 2ltr duratec in, but am putting it out to offers.
Allan Ford in Bath said - "lots of tapping/knocking noise from top and bottom of engine. ideally needs engine replaced."
Brakes all round only replaced 14k miles ago. Good tread on all 4 Toyo tyres.
Front and middle exhaust replaced a couple of years ago.
Paintwork, usual rust on door sills and stone chipping. Paint flacking a bit on fuel cap and there's a slight crack at the top of the front bumper, looks repairable.
As I said, I am open to offers and happy to answer all questions. The car is in Bath and obviously doesn't drive.
Cheers
Kevin

It was a thought that had crossed my mind, just seems a shame to take another FRP off the road!
No idea on price and no idea on the quality - I had the discs and pads changed 14k ago, but the callipers were simply cleaned up.
OK, I'll start a list of parts and people, and if it comes to it, then I'll work out prices and send out PM's. So if anyone else is interested in parts, then let me know.
Thanks
Kevin

With the inlet and the FRP ecu, it will still go well.
The cams are the only thing internally in the engine that are different.
I'm not far from you and Know Devizes reclamation have at least Two 1.7 Puma's there breaking.
I was there last week picking up some bits for my car.

Have been thinking of that also, and half the reason for opening it to offers, as I know that someone can take it on as a project, I just don't have the time at the moment.
Did you want to make yourself another FRP?

Surely a 1.7 engine and swap over all the FRP parts would be easy enough?
Am I very wrong?

Dare I ask, did it ever get real low on oil, as sounds like an oil out classic

sounds like REDICULOUS guess work to me... if they havn't done a decent leak down test and compression values etc...then i'd take it with a pinch of salt...

Afraid to say, yes a bit low on oil
Had a really busy few months travelling a lot for work, and fell rather behind on the TLC!
The Ford garage comments confirmed what the RAC had already said. But not being a mechanic, I couldn't say for sure. And I have no idea how much they took it apart before coming to that conclusion.

Hopefully someone will take her on and fix her up. Seems a shame to pull it apart.

the puma does not have a low oil warning light it only has an oil pressure warning light which by the time this comes on is normally too late.
wish i had the space and funds to buy it as its not a difficult job to change over all the frp engine parts if you had both engines out of the car and having a cam timing tool would make it even easier for me :-).
