My FRP handles sensationally, like they all do, but on the bits between the bendy bits where the car excels are straights.
This is where the lack of power shows its self up :(
I can chase, hassle and go giant killing on a twisty race track, (Lotus, Porsche even an Ariel Atom have been chased down) but come the straights they just vanish into the distance.
So I decided more power was required and the cheapest and easiest option was Nitrous Oxide :)

Installation wasn't going to be a problem, I'm a Electrical / Electronics engineer who has been working as an multi skilled industrial engineer for the last 25 years ;)

I did research it quite a lot before deciding how to go about it, in my youth a bunch of friends into drag racing used to use it on big Yank cars with amazing results.
Cost was one of my main concerns, so "second hand" was the only option. So an Ebay watch was set up for various things I needed.
A full system with bottle by the American company NOS was advertised just after Christmas for not much over £100 Buy It Now, so I did.
Next was new Fogger nozzle, and control system, bottle heater to give a constant supply of gas pressure.

I know a couple of Puma's already have Nitrous, so I did get some information from Chris about fuel take off points etc.
Plus how much power to add. If I go over 50 bhp, a progressive controller would be needed to bring the power in gradually rather than in one "Hit".
Hence for the moment I'm only adding 40 or so.

The other thing I wanted was a reasonably "stealth" install.
The Ashtray seemed a good option for the required buttons etc, and what I didn't realise is that the hump behind the gear stick is an empty void :o Ideal for all my relays and connections, TPS box etc.

So today as we have some nice weather for a change, the install has started.
The bottle is central in the boot facing forward to stop any chance of the internal pick up coming out of the liquid.

It's a 10Ib bottle and I have recently picked up another as a spare on Ebay.

I have mounted the arming switch on the right hand side of the dash, so I can reach it easily to turn on wth out any fumbling.
I may get a black cover as this is a bit visible.

A scrap yard ashtray which has been modified.

A blue high intensity LED to let me know the system is "armed"

Now you see it, control fuse, bottle heater button with illumination when on, purge button and "knock" sensor to monitor the mixture and running lean would not be good !

Gone, all hidden away.

Next I have to connect up the solenoids under the bonnet and plumb everything up.

Have to say that I laughed heartily in full admiration!

Can you give a layman like myself and idea of the increased performance that you can expect (in mph) and how long would one bottle last?

And if it's not too much of an explanation, how does the nitrous oxide improve performance so notably?

Thanks in anticipation and well done indeed!

Just need a bit of 4AN fuel pipe and to connect up the knock sensor and TPS and the system is installed.
Oh and fit the fogger into the inlet hose.
But I will check the fuel operates properly first.
