OK, so for a few of weeks now i've thought the clutch on my 1.7 must be on it's way out. I first noticed this when I *had to* blush.gif do a fast standing start, and it sat there and revved, and smelled of clutch (had one go before on another car, so I know it), before I dropped the revs a little, and it set off. Pretty normal I think, considering it's done 61k now, which I assume is on the original clutch.

However, when I carried out a stall test (4th gear, handbrake on, let the clutch out), it stalled, which means that the clutch surely can't be that shot? This was after a 30 mile drive too, so it was warm. Also, on the motorway earlier I decided to do another little test, and from 60mph in 5th gear, dropped to 4th and floored it. It handled this fine, and shot off, and I was trying to make it slip wacko.gif

So what's the diagnosis on that? I think it's on it's way out, so I might just get it changed, because i'm sure it slips a little more than it used to in traffic. Just weird to methat it doesn't always under heavy use, and it passed a stall test wacko.gif

Also, my revs keep sticking at about 1500rpm when the engine is idling (intermittantly), then dropping to normal, or sometimes dropping very low, and you have to give it some revs or it stalls. Any idea what this could be, i'm hoping it's not too expensive, cos aswell as the clutch, I need to get my bushes done, which is gonna cost enough lol.

My thoughts were: Sticky throttle cable, Idle speed control valve, Throttle potentiometer ???

I noticed before, that the revs actually rose very slightly from what they were, to settle at 1500rpm unsure.gif

Thanks if anybody reads all that lol good.gif

Throttle Position Sensor? I had mine changed recently as the car would maintain 3000 rpm for a few seconds when you dipped the clutch to change gear - seems fine now though.

Think that's the same/similar to the throttle potentiometer I mentioned, so we're thinking down the same lines.

Looks like i'll have to book it in for a big ol' bill down at Pumabuild. Should feel like a new car afterwards though woot2.gif

I know what that feels like, but it's nice to know it comes out in good working order smile.gif
