I'm trying to work out if my car's lowered, as I keep catching the front end on things like curbs and speed bumps, and two people have commented that my car looks a bit aggressive and front end heavy. Heres a pic of a side view of my car:

What do you reckon? Front end lowered? Or possibly shocks buggered? The rear shocks were replaced earlier this year, however I don't know if the springs were done so its possible that the springs were replaced with standard springs and the front end only is lowered.

Thanks smile.gif

front is definately lower than standard.

i would suggest knackered shocks/springs. but it might be as you say that when you got it it was lowered and ford put original parts back on the backs and didnt notice??

Doesn't look lowered to me.

Some lowered springs are coloured red, if your springs are red then they may not be original.

Try the bounce test on the front and back to check for knackered dampers.

If you consistently scrape the front of the car when going over speed bumps, maybe you should slow down a bit huh.gif

Yeh I know, I do go slowly! Theres a couple near me that even at 5mph will catch the front end, and any faster than that and I get some very unpleasant noises sad.gif

I think black cars tend to look lower as the gappy wheel arches are not accentuated like they are on a silver car.

I think it looks normal

Hope this helps, this is my Black with Eibach springs fitted. Gaps at front and rear are pretty much exactly the same.

it looks lowered to me.

see if you can fit a coke can (or similar) under the front bumper and if you cant then its been lowered.

Looks fine, my black puma is identical to yours. Think you must have speed mountains, not bumps where you live!

Is that road flat or on a slope?

As after looking at mine as it was before the 17's etc yours looks more angled, ie the front end looks lower but saying that the space between the front wheel and the arch looks pretty similar to mine. Maybe it is a knackered front shock.

Ok, measurements coming tomorrow as its cold and wet and windy outside at the moment and my car's on a slope, and I don't fancy moving it off the slope then getting wet which I mess around with a tape measure 1112202173.gif

We've had four Puma's over the years and that looks standard to me.

Check the suspension parts if you're not entirely happy with it.

Looks nice smile.gif

Right then, just measured my car, handbrake off on a flat road.

Front valance to road measurement = 13 cm

Centre of front wheel to arch = 34cm/35cm = 13.5 inches (drivers side was about 1cm lower than PS, but has been parked with PS up on curb since 7.30am and just moved off for measurements)

Centre of rear wheel to arch = 38cm = 15 inches

Front end seems slightly lower than Clawz who posted up 37cm/14.5 inches for the front wheel to the arch.

I'm insane, it's raining! sleep.gif dry.gif

.. crazy.gif I've measured both front wheels again, 36cm from the center of the wheel (ford logo) to the arch.

1cm doesn't sound like a huge difference wink.gif
