I did not bother with a geared head - totally unnecessary for the things I want it for; I did look at the 808 head though - it is a lot heavier and although it will support a greater weight I do not think it likely I would need to support more than 4 kg.
Sadly the tripod/head/case was only a relatively small part of the total order. What I have ordered to go on top is what is really costing the money!
How sad are we that we are talking about tripod heads.....?

Did think i was going to have to buy a new camera the other day, thought the Minolta had the dreaded firmware delete syndrome, turned out the battery was flat
Found out the hard way that if you leave the camera connected to PC with USB lead that the auto shutdown is over ridden

Worrying about over £100 on a lens..? Worry when you have to spend over £100 on the filter for a lens
