Went up to York raceway with a friend today to have a peek at the drag racing meet they had on.

Didn't really take too much notice what was going to be there beforehand as I mainly wanted to get some more time with the camera. Thought I would share some quick snaps I took out of the huge number over the day.

The range of machines on the strip was quite large. american pro stock muscle cars, hot rods, bikes, jap tuners and run what you bgung people too. quite a fun day out all in all biggrin.gif

Some of those american muscle cars were pretty special. absolute beasts and rather noisy too biggrin.gif

I think I did get a photo from a different angle with one of their beetles in shot too. I'll have to dig it out of the collection

Some of those modded beetles are pretty nippy smile.gif

That Challenger R/T is absolute sex!! I would love one of those, even just to turn the engine on and sit at idle. cool.gif wub.gif wub.gif

How about this little video clip for a idea of the noise? Wonder if this would get any attention from the cops if you were sat idling at the traffic lights biggrin.gif

clicky - vid

a few more picture treats for you. Loved the little green anglia and the ford pop is just a classic hot rod. would love to build something like either of those if I had the money.

this yellow bike was a bit special. It used to belong to a friend of the guy who was riding it. When his mate was close to passing away he asked if the bloke would keep racing it for him.

Check out the oil catch tank biggrin.gif

Brings back loads of memories of when I used to frequent elvington in the 80's.
Had a mk2 lotus cortina which did a run or two.
Wish I hadn't sold that...ah well

I did really like the feel of the place. Seemed like almost a 'back to basics' experience compared to somewhere like santa pod.

There was one Cortina there with a V8 of some description in it biggrin.gif

Santa Pod, back in the 80's was rather basic then. Great fun .
Never forget Dave Lee Travis doing really badly in a top fuel laugh.gif

lol, imagine it was a bit basic back there, it just seems like York hasn't changed much from what I imagine it would have been like way back whe, although that's not meant as an insult on the place.

Always fancied having an Anglia when I was at school, big wheels on the back and the fluffy dice, they where always in the old custom mags.

hehe, looks like it would still fit in OK there as long as it had a nice meaty engine in it too smile.gif
