Rear Brake Drum's

Hi everyone

Newbie here !!

Not new to fixing thing's but trying to take rear subframe off to do the subframe bushes
but have come across problem !!

I need to strip down rear drum's but the centre bolt holding the drum and bearing seem's

to have 4 thin 28 mm nut's !!

Is there a special tool ?? I have a 28 mm socket but can't move any of them

You haven't taken the "Cage" off, have you?
The assembly should be treated as one nut, and, IIRC, a 30mm socket should be used to remove it.
Both left and right nuts are the same and are removed anti-clockwise.
Best to be replaced with a new one when re-assembling, although some people have reused them.
Must be torqued up to 235Nm, to correctly pre-load the bearing.

Like a numpty i did attempt to seperate it !!!

Will take your advice and replace with new one's

It's a nice day to check the car over, so..........
Having just discovered that I have just broken (in 6 pieces ) the 'cage' and undid the 4 thin nuts. I found that the break shoes were fine!
I have tightened up the 4 thin nuts and will look for a cage. BUT as there is no split pin, is it only friction that stops the hub nut from undoing?
The actual 'cage' does not prevent the hub nut from undoing. On Utube videos all the Fiesta hub nuts seem to be 'proper' nuts. Can these be used?
