I cant find the old knowledge base or through a search on how to remove the rear bumper. I need to replace the boot lock release motor and the screws holding it are (typical ford) from the outside - in, so the bumper needs to come off to get access to the screws. Anyone know how?

Without looking it up. you can open your boot from the inside if it will save you the bother. If thats what you need as it's only a five minute job.
ERR retraction, I just reread this and yes your right you do need to remove the bumper, If no one else answers before I can type it up, I'll give you comprehesive instructions tommorrow. afternoon latish

Several hours early.
Rear Bumper Removal
1. Remove the loadspace trim panel.
2. Remove the bumper retaining nuts. (all four are within the loadspace)
3. Detach the fender splash shield from the bumper cover and fender (both sides). Think I may need to give you a diagram for this to allow number 4 to happen
4. Detach the bumper from both fenders.
1 Detach the bumper from the fender clips.
2 Pull the bumper rearwards.
5. Unplug the rear fog lamp and license plate illumination electrical connector.
6. Remove the bumper.
Installation
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
If you need diagrams e-mail me
it's in my profile

Yeah it still opens with the key in it.
I managed to get the old motor working again by manually moving the motor mechanism but its likely to fail again I guess. I'll replace it when it does.
Thanks
Steve
