The car was losked last night via the remote. This morning the car wasn't responding to the remote. She opened the car on the key and the horn stared sounding and the hazards flashed BUT it would start and drive. She says that after a minute or so the alarm stops sounding and the hazards go off. If she opens a door the alarm starts sounding again for the minute and then stops but all the time the car is drivable..
The red light by the clock on the dash is flashing constantly.
Any ideas?

Spot on, she locked and unlocked the car from the passenger door and problem solved.
Guess there must be a switch in each of the door locks to disarm the alarm when the door unlocks and the key fob AND the switch on the driver's door lock have both packed up.

edit: may also be the reason why the keyfob doesnt work as wel, if the car thinks it's in the proses of locking, and ignoring the remote

If your 'door open' light comes on for no apparent reason or your alarm keeps sounding for no apparent reason, you may have a faulty pin-switch in one of the doors, the boot, or the bonnet. The alarm self-diagnostic can be selected by depressing any alarm pin-switch 6 times in quick succession. Once this is done the alarm will bleep (honk) once. Opening the boot, doors or bonnet will sound the horn once if that detector is okay and twice if there's a fault with it. If nothing is opened or closed for twenty seconds the security system will quit diagnostic mode and return to normal.
I did this a few months ago and it worked, now when I do it the first press sets the alarm off.

I have taken the fuse out for the central locking, and the alarm only goes off now if the passenger door is opened. Fortunately without the fuse the alarm only lasts till all doors are shut and the annoying 10 minutes of hazard lights aren't going off.

I am near on pulling my hair out - im hoping someone can help me
Recently my alarm went off if i opened the doors, despite reading all the forum posts it still hasnt fixed the issue
what i have done so far
disconnected the horn (embarrasing when u are ina supermarket carpark), so i now have the annoying 5 minute wait till my hazards turn off and i can drive without them flashing. I have even disconnected the bonnet switch as that seemed loose and bridged it to show its closed ( so im guessing the issue is now with the doors - odly the boot when opened doesnt sound the alarm (or hazards dont flash) lol
how can i stop the hazards flashing
is there a way to disconnect them so im not sitting around like an idiot awaiting them to cease flashing
any ideas anyone - i only ever had 1 key (not the fob) so door is always locked and unlocked by key
i have tried locking and unlocking using all doors
but nothing turns the hazards off till it reaches the 5 min marker
anyhelp would be appreciated here
