The heated rear screen in 97 Puma no longer works. I know the switch still works because the heated door mirrors still work. I have replaced the fuse and have cleaned the contacts with emery cloth but it still doesn't work. The wiring from what I can see seems to be ok. Any help in finding out what the cause of the fault will be of great help. Thanks.

Funnily enough I have the exact same problem on my Thunder which I recently bought. I had a new cambelt fitted yesterday and my mechanic did have a quick look at it but, due to time, wasn't able to diagnose the problem fully. He did establish that the switch was still working and power was getting to the rear of the car but he didn't have time to investigate further. I'll be booking my car in again for other works shortly so will let you know what I find out!

PS do the heated mirrors work off the rear demister switch then?

The heated mirrors do still work. Funnily enough the heated rear screen does now work. I took my Puma into my local ford dealer for a service yesterday, I asked if they knew what the fault could be which they didn't know without running full diagnostics, which I didn't want doing at the time. The screen needed clearing today & without thinking I pressed the button & the rear screen cleared. It was a little spooky to say the least but at least it now works & I haven't had to pay for diagnostics.

searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
