Been really busy last couple of weeks on Racing Puma 0477

Started with my Stage 2 Engine service which did open up a few worms!

The cam belt on this car was in good order and tensioned well, but as usual, there were STACKS of other issues to sort out..the main one being the oil contamination in the inlet.. check this out :--

This is what happens when the crankcase breather valve doesn't work properly...who knows..anyway, all cleaned up now with new valve!..

Sump sections removed - New crankshaft seals front and back - New camshaft seals - new water pump - timing belt kit - Aux guide pulley replaced - thermostat

Air charge sensor (underside of inlet) - Heater control valve + associated piping - Aux Belt - Head cover gasket - New LUK Clutch kit

Then on to the Brakes.. :woot2:

Not sure these had ever been serviced 'properly' before, as you can see, they were looking a bit tiered and seized up!

Had to drill out one of the bridge pipes which was a nightmare, as the bottom of it just spins with the drill and ruins the seating area.. :phew::

Also, a bolt inside each caliper snapped off which had to be drilled out and re-tapped..

despite this, the pistons were all in good order..

Eventually all sorted..lot of faff tho... :guns: :comp: :comp:

And the crank case breather is such a piddly little thing!

All I can say is a lot of money.........

I regularly do this service on numerous Pumas I service and it is a good whack of cash just for these genuine parts.

I don't have a proper parts cleaner(is the parts aqua blasted?) set up though to get a new clean look.

Generally only suitable for FRP's as they have a value or as I have found customers who just don't want to give up their Puma as this work cost more than to buy another Puma itself.

Cheers

Ally

Morning all! This in my moneypit that Chris gave some intensive care too. I've been a member on her for years, but changed email address a while ago so could never post until I got round to getting everything sorted again, so hello from the past! Weirdly, all my old posts have disappeared but there you go. It's been a while.....

Dare I say it, I've been keeping the restoration thread on #477 going on, ahem, 'another' site, but will start updating it on here too after the Christmas fun of stripping the underside. It wasn't pretty!
