Wanted to clean my car today but as you can't do it when it is too hot I'm left a bit stuck, suppose I could get most of the crap off with a good wash over then leave doing anything that might stick to the paintwork till later. Can you clay if the bodywork is hot?

Yep, way too hot...especially as you have a black car. Can you not get it under cover somewhere?

Best option otherwise would be to start work about 5pm and work till dark, or wash late tonight, then get up about 5am and clay and polish till about 10am.

I'm in the same boat, so cleaned under the back seat as way too hot.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Its debatable....

I washed and waxed the girlfriends Fiesta in FULL sun today....so it is possible.

What i tend to do is wash one section of the car at a time and then rinse off..then move onto the next panel....always spraying water over the whole car to keep it wet....then at the end i quickly go over the whole car with the washmit and rinse and dry off with a Meguiars water magnet.

I also waxed the Fietsa in full sun 1pm!!!....was a lot harder to do than normal..but it is possible..I just apply the wax to one panel then straight away buff off before it gets caked on...especially #16 wax as this isnt the easiest wax to remove as the best of times....

Here are some pics i just took.........you see it IS possible!!!

And below..the reason i suppose they call it #16 MIRROR GLAZE!!!

I am now badly sunburnt!!!! blush.gif

I've managed to wash my car using buckets (still have a hosepipe ban here). You just have to move the car to shade and work at the right time.

I did notice that Autoglym's car shampoo leaves a far less streaky finish than the Meguires NXT wash, so I won't be using Maguires shampoo again.

Had a light go over with the clay, not brilliant but would look better after a touch of swirl remover stuff, or it would but for the corpses of many tiny flying insects tht have plastered themselves over the front of my car on my drive home and will do again on the way back to my parents tomorrow ranting2.gif

Right now the next mod I'm looking into is a star trek style deflector dish to fit to the front of my car so the little buggers can't weld themselves to the front of my car anymore roflmao.gif

My house is on an estate but is set back from the road so I can't get the car very close. I wash the car every weekend in the car park where we garage the Focus, which means I have to manage with a bucket of shampoo and a watering can of clean water that I have to carry down the road mad.gif

I use Turtle Wax Extreme shampoo ...... it dries with practically no smearing, although I use a Microfibre cloth to help it along and another to buff it before waxing. You peeps who use hosepipes and spray the car to keep it wet until you are ready to dry it don't know how lucky you are 18.gif

Did mine last night; I parked in some shade and did it about 8.30pm when the bodywork was cool.
