The aperture is definately NOT double DIN.

You might be able to mess with a heater control panel to make the aperture deeper. You will need the top part of a single DIN adaptor as the standard hole has very rounded corners.

Bit of a trial and error effort I reckon.

Given how close the temp controls are to the top of the panel, you might need to trim the bottom so the whole thing can move down, rather than trying to trim the top. Why not get a cheapo Fiesta one from a scrappers to mess around with before cutting up an expensive silver A/C version.

Don't know the answer, but if you look at the attached, you can see the difference. The stereo is DIN, and the space below it is much less than the height of the stereo, so it couldn't be double DIN, even with the top strip taken into account.

Anyone modded the heater console before?

I have a 7" touch screen at home I want to fit, and was going to fit it at an angle to make it fit but if moving the controls isn't too much work.... (Wishful thinking perhaps!!)

2 din can be fited in Puma. Puma has 1.8 din. You jast need to bend metal lath above heater control panel

To e3silversurfer - I didn't modify heater control panel, i jast made bezel with LCD from 2DIN monitor

That link to the Russian Puma is so cool. I fancy doing something like that myself.

Funnily enough I've recently been planning a new installation in my friend's Saab 900 - that has the Saad SID unit and he has a JVC standard headunit with a large blanking plate, think it'll take a Double DIN with slight trimming.

Double DIN headunits are really cool cool.gif happy.gif

LOL I gave up trying to find somewhere to mount the phone. My new headunit has Bluetooth handsfree so it's kinda solved that problem.
