lol, that's exactly the same line of tub i put into the frp LOL. But i did mine out of fibreglass, cos its easier than my welding skills LOL.

Looking good though, loads of travel there.

Stefan said the works beam and fuel tank were in the wrong place on the works car and it made for a lot of oversteer. Worth bearing in mind when it comes ot weight distribution...

Made such progress, great to catch up :)
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

No probs Harry,

There should be conical shims, (bellville washers), 0n the main diff bearings, and 'C' looking shims / clips for the main and layshaft bearings retention on the 5th gear side.

HTH,

Dave

I managed to get a few hours on the Puma again today, Puma time seems to be getting scarce, more bloody relatives coming up for a free holiday and to eat and drink us out of house and home this week....Only just got rid of the last lot !!

Thank god I can choose my friends ;)

Also the naffing ski boat has done a head gasket, (V8), it's getting water in no4 cylinder. As I'm still busy with the waterski school, I need to get it done before this Friday :(

And it's Mels Birthday tommoz and a mates funeral.....so sod all gonna get done on the car now 'til at least Saturday PM :(

But.....apart from a coating of stonechip paint underneath where the 1/4 panel fits on I have toally finished on the N/S/R now, have welded in around the petrol filler box.....

and down inside the rear bumper arch piece.....

Also a bit of thought in advance.....

Stage Rally regs require the use of hefty mudflaps to prevent flying gravel, and my experience of mudflaps is they fall off, so I have welded in a 3mm thick flat bar to hang them from.....

Coffee and Hamlet break ;)

Finally, on the N/S I need to protect the fuel filler and tank breather pipes from flying gravel, so I cut up one of the old Scorpio plastic wheelarch liners to make a nice protective panel. This will be easy to remove if needs be, so will fix it with a few rivets. It's even got the ford logo on it :).....

and a test fit.....

And finally, suspension past full bump (no bump stop ATM).....

Tons of room here even with the 16" Tarmac wheels on :)

Like I said, apart from protective paint, the N/S 1/4 panel is now ready for final fixing. I will leave this for now though, until the welding in of inner wheelarch tub etc is done on the O/S, which should be easier than the N/S as theres no fuel filler to worry about. Then I can paint both sides and fix both the rear 1/4 panels on properly together.

More soon,

Cheers Dave

i was actually going to ask you what tarmac wheels you were going to use!

I'm going to go down to 16", i don't think 17s warrant the car tbh.

Thanks Otto,

Yeah heck of a lot of bodyshell specific mods, very time consuming !!

So I gotta be careful not to wrap it round a tree first time out lol, but it's sure going to be a quick special stage car :)

May well start to build a spare bodyshell, "just in case", once the car is all done and entering events ;)

Hi Bouncy,

TBH it would be done or very near it by now, if it wasn't for all the unplanned relative visits, boat breakdown, van breakdown, mates dead Land Rover, domestic jobs etc etc lol.
At the moment I'm lucky if I'm getting 10 hrs a week on the Puma.

Re the shell, sounds like a plan, only thing is I won't have room to take it until late this year, gotta get rid of a few other dead cars first, (thats a G/F thing), they don't like the grounds looking like a breakers yard ;)

Cheers Dave
