well finally had it done on my ongoing quest to renew most things on 241 and make better etc, still tons and tons to do but its ongoing so ill keep plodding away when money permits.

bought a rear beam off frp 038 that was written off, had it sent down to tremona for shot blasting and powder coating in satin black.
i had the stub axles, new dirt shields, beam and beam connection mounts coated as well as two centre front bumper grills and i must say they look great.

i also bought all new bolts etc for the rear beam and abs sensors and brake caliper etc

i also had a new handbrake cable, new rear shocks, new rear discs and new rear pads fitted and both new rear wheel bearings.

im so glad ive had it done as hopefully now i wont have to bother repainting it all a couple of times a year, next job is to start on getting the front wishbones etc done.

also waiting on my rear calipers to come back from being silver electroplated and then they will be going on to make it look even better :-)

also had a full service while i was there and a new rocker cover gasket and new bonnet switch while i was there. alot of money spent but it makes me happy, could have had the car resprayed for the same money lol, never mind.

enjoy.

oil, new rear discs and new denso iridium itv16 plugs.

new rear suspension (£238 each)

new discs, new pads, new handbrake cable, new tone wheel rings, new abd sensor bolts, new bearing cap shields, new beam bolts, new handbrake brackets x8, new rear spacers, new bonnet sensor plug, new rocker cover gasket, powder coated beam connection plates, new powder coated disc dirt shields, powder coated stub axles.

old beam removed

new rear beam fitted, discs sprayed up and new brake lines fitted a couple of months ago.

also serviced my front calipers the next day and resprayed the front discs and put on new caliper bolts and nuts.

Is this the most well looked after but most enjoyed at the same time FRP ever?

That is brilliant to see, if only i had half the know how, time and money to do this.
Thanks, Jon

biggrin.gif thankyou mate, i must admit it is an addiction and if i had the time and money i would keep doing more but i just dont.

i drive the car hard so i think it forgives me when i buy it new parts and look after it well lol.

still lots to do though.were back to the ring next year but im dreading taking 241 again for the 4th time as i have spent far too much on it now too write it off.

great dedication Al biggrin.gif
At least you can use your old parts for cleaning up for swap over fitting when the current new set look tatty again with age/mileage:)
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

yep thats what im thinking as i now have spare rear hubs and stub axles so they will come in ahndy maybe one day when obsolete.

ed asked me nicely for the rear beam and ive let him have it as i couldnt bring it home with me as have no where to store it, but they should not be a problem getting if i ever need one as they are standard puma apart from the hubs etc.

gotta do something with the bottom of the brake lines as they are going rusty allready after 2 months, im sure the handbrake cable wont last long before rusting either lol.

glad you like it smile.gif

p.s, i had to justify the new rear shocks as when i asked richard why the rear end sometimes dips when im pushing the car hard he thought it may have something to do with me having new front suspension 2 years ago which make the front hard and the 9 year old rear shocks were softer,

and i must admit the rear end does feel alot tighter now.

The most cherished FRP ever? I certainly think so. I know what your FRP means to you Al, and it's always a pleasure to read and see what you've done. smile.gif

thankyou ed, yep only some of the older members that have been around for a while know why my frp means so much to me and the reasons why i honestly will never sell it unless its life and death, and its hard to understand for some people why i put so much time and money into a car worth 6 or 7k but when something means so much to you thats what you do.

smile.gif

long live 241 and all other frp's biggrin.gif

it will do with those powerflex in there, thats for sure.... i thought they usually went the other way round.. unsure.gif

Beam looks awesome you pimp daddy... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif liking the new nuts and bolts too... cool.gif Those Philidas locking nuts are very pricey in stainless... iv'e just bought 100 of each laugh.gif altho they are a bit cheaper in standard steel...

It's definatly much nicer replacing thigs on the beam with new nuts and bolts....that bolt that goes through the damper bush needs to be proper tight!...

Absolutely stunning Alan, I wish I had your dedication to detail.
It's nice to know it gets used in anger too.
Also wish I could spend money on Wugsy like you do on Trannie.
I felt guilty enough spending money on cleaning stuff at Combe. rolleyes.gif
But I do know why Trannie is so special to you. wink.gif

You will have to get mirrors so people can look at the under side at shows.

I have just had a phone call from a chap organizing a show on Sunday, He wants Wugsy there.
Wanted to know if I will drive it over or trailer it. laugh.gif
Looks like on Saturday I will get to try out all my new cleaning stuff.

he he good man graham

so i take it your trailering it wink.gif

i have quite a few rusty bits still on the underside and alot of things still to replace and powdercoat, especially the front end so it wont be there for another year or two and then itll be time to probably start again.

them concours cars are amazing but as richard said they get kept in heated car port things, never get driven and never see rain etc so thats why they stay so nice

i could never get mine like that but i do want it too stay nice and last me a long long time.

Looks brilliant!!!

Hopefully you can with powder coating and better than ford coatings get more than a couple of years before it corrodes away on most the major bits!!
