Gearknob Polishing.

Found the polishing mops in the shed while looking for something else as you do.
So watching tv after lunch I came up with a plan...
Start with one spare (dull) ford puma gearknob
Insert one threaded bar into drill (yes I know the shed is a mess, I blame my dad)
Screw gearknob onto threaded bar
Start with glass paper to quickly remove laquer
Sanding block next to refine rough finish left by glass paper
Shine starting to appear
No photos of the same just refining the finish using different grades of emery paper (1000, 1500, 2000)
Then finish by hand using 3000
Medium mop with green compound to remove 3000 sanding marks
Prefer the small medium mop as you can put more pressure on
Switch to the unstitched polishing mop and the blue compound
Finished
So today I took the one off the puma and did it aswell
Cheers

how about a knob polishing service?
I agree with spike. Can I send you mine?
Its clean and has a slight shine to it but it has scratches on it from the previous owners wedding ring!

Pumapolit I'm in Lisburn in Northern Ireland.
Heres a link to me saying hello in the newbie zone
Perhaps a Mod or Admin could advise if I will be allowed to provide a gearknob polishing service.
I can polish anyones puma gearknob if they are willing to cover the cost of return recorded delivery postage, materials and my time.
I'll say no more until I hear back from a Mod or Admin.
Hope this is ok ?
Cheers

I cant see any problem with anybody objecting to you offering this service.
PM a Moderator for advice, Jason (Sky) is the forum Administrator, but you'll have to use the email address in his signature block to contact him.
Also, if you put your location in your profile, then we'd know where you were if you ever need any advice, re garages near to you, albeit only 1 Irish garage exists to our knowledge - so far.

Will update my profile and email Jason, didn't know if there where any rules inplace regarding offering this sort of service to the members.
Looked in the news and forum issues sub threads but couldn't find anything.
I work for Ford here in Northern Ireland and if any members needed advice or help I hope I could point them in the right direction.
Cheers

Started off with some thinners to remove the paint, then various grades of wet and dry.
Finishing off with autosolve and a soft rag.
Took about 10 minutes.
