I want;

a) A mesh grille
Got the stuff from B&Q, ripped my hands to shreds and it looked terrible. Anyone got any other ideas ?

cool.gif Replacement Ford Badges with the Puma Logo on it. I think you can get these from essexracing. Anyone got them or dealt with these folks before. rom old posts elsewhere, I gleaned that the service from essexracing was not all it is cracked up to be. Any experience ?

Cheers

I don't believe it is sacriledge. It is a Ford, mass produced coupe, not an individual work of art, although it will be when I've finished with it. laugh.gif

If Ford produced a mesh grill - I'd buy it - but please, not B&Q.
If a third party is professionally producing a mesh grill - like the ST24 - please forward their details....

I've looked at the accessories catalog for the Puma and it's crap - you've got options on mudflaps, a shabby looking aluminium handbrake cover, a towbar and a roof rack - thats about it!!

I think the Puma was made in such short runs that it isn't worth Fords' while producing accessories for it. For example, I was told by Ford that they don't have any dashboards for the Puma left - I needed mine replacing - so one was, I assume, 'exchanged' from another Puma - so you have been warned - NO DASHBOARDS LEFT :yell:

I got my black mesh from Demon Tweaks at Ford Fair last year, it's still sitting in my bedroom waiting for me to pluck up the courage to actually cut it! We're hoping to attach it to a spare grill we've got from a scrappie, it hardly notices behind and will be easy to secure and remove if needs be.

As for the badges, I'm looking for black Ford badges if anyone knows where you can get them from, if not it will be the scraping off the silver and blue back and painting it black method me thinks :?

Essex Racing has a selection of puma badges, some are simply stickers that look cheap and nasty.

I must confess that I do have a set of Carbon fiber badges from them that do look better than the blue oval, especially on a black kat. I did have to send two sets back due to the bad quality control they have and even now the rear badge has an imperfection. If you feel compelled to get badges from them I advise you visit them in person and check the purchase out carefully before you buy, don't use mail delivery as you might find that you are constantly sending things back and waiting.

I don't plan to buy anything from them again. Adam had them work on his old kat's brakes and regretted it too.

Hmm,

What part of the dash needs replacing?

Couldnt agree more.

Tiggr is now looking less and less of a Ford. Purely optical illusion, but the addition of the rear wing, and the mudflaps along with the Jewel Green paint make the car look longer and from the back, lower.

rear boot came out temp though, as too much vibration from the sheet MDF. Anyone got any ideas how I can stop the drumming?

The whole thing was replaced coz of a 'botch job' on a warranty repair - see "Tales of woe..." topic in general...

Having read that again, I'd suggest that your dealer has the problem of finding a dash.

Ford cannot turn around and say that they don't have any left. That is the'r issue.

Example.

When Tiggrs engine (numero uno) failed, I was told that i'd need a new one.

I was then told that there were non left, as all engines were headed for the remainder of the production cars (2 grand plus VAT!!!)

Well, with the help of a few guys on the list, I eventually got through to FMC executive suite.

Having mentioned Watchdog / Ann Robinson / Sale of Goods Act, I was put in touch with Engine Research.

They built me a blueprinted engine from scratch!!!

At the time, I'd given up and went for the 1600 CVH conversion, but I did receive a very very nice short engine. Very very clean, with no block identity straight from Ford Engine Research.

This engine, along with all the correct FRP stuff and correct DVLA acknowledgement now resides in one of the PumaSpeed Racing Pumas, and is probably the most lovingly put together engine in any Puma on the road today....

Moral is - Kick Ford where it hurts - bad publicity.

Good Luck

I think Ford warranty only covers the trim (ie that includes dashboard) for 12 months - so in theory they only, legally, need to supply trim spares for 12 months up until the last Puma goes out of the showroom.

It's like everything - you have fight to get what you want...

(does anybody know how to identify the last - I assume Thunder - Puma to be sold)

Warrantty doesnt come into it.

If my understanding is correct they damaged your car, and as such are liable for the repair.

Their fault, they should fix... Even if they have to build one from scratch !!!!

Yeah - they did 'fix' it (4 attempts at remoulding/repainting) - until Ford UK got onto their backs - and then they whipped one off their new Pumas in stock- the poor sod who bought that one got my tatty remoulded one (it was a in a hell of mess).....

LOL - I even found the other Pumas wheel locking nut and CD code sheet in the glovebox...unbeleivable...

Think you may find that this sort of behavoir will become more and more common.

Pumaspeed can no longer get hold of bodyshells, as there aint any left.

Moral : Dont crump your Kat!
