Hi, our puma needs new front tyres and the general rule seems to be that the Toyo T1-R is the bees knees.
What I'd like to know is how well they wear? Our car does a fair few motorway miles so tyre wear is an issue
and I don't want to fit two new tyres and have to replace them in six months time however good they are performance wise. Has any run them for a while?

Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon. From my experience you can get better wearing tyres, but the performance on the Toyos is above average.

However if you're doing mostly motorway journeys, do you need that extra bit of performance? Might be worth looking for something that will last a little longer in your case.

They are the bees knees for the price you pay.

There aren't much good at half life though, definite loss of precision though the steering.

How can I put this?...

Since aquiring my Toyo T1-R, my life has changed.
I feel younger, healthier, 'buffed' somehow.
My calves seem to have firmed, my jaw more chiselled.
Young women give me admiring glances, animals flock to me, my senses are sharper.
My car is shinier, faster, yet also safer and my language skills have developed.
I am wealthier, as my job pays me better (and my hours have decreased).
My home is warmer, and my fridge is fuller. Even my wife seems strangely attractive.
Thanks Toyo. I owe you everything.

So, yep, recommended...

I've had 3/4 sets - no problems - average 20K miles backs and 15K miles for the fronts on my FRP in 50/50 motorway - I do 25K miles a year....

They do seem more 'wallowy' than the P7000 - but you can't get those anymore - plus I can't justify spending extra on a highly disposible item with my mileage...

I've had them on two cars and they worked really well lots of grip but since they are soft they don't last aslong as normal harder less 'grippy' tyre's.

Been there, done that, and I'm still alive.....

You can feel the sidewall flex as the tyre seems about to rip off the wheel/road. Don't know if other tyres are better at speed for this???

Noticed when I bought a set of T1-R's that some places sold them with an 'RF' suffix denoting a reinforced side wall - dunno if they all have this? ja_stupid.gif

IMO The T1-R's don't feel as 'sturdy' as the P7000's when going round corners - it feels like your trying to balance on stilts as you constantly try and correct the car

TBH I can't tell the difference between T1-S and T1-R in everyday driving - they both feel 'wobbly' in comparison to P7000's

I might go with some Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 next time round - about Å“13 more expensive...
