Is there a Ford Recaro seat which can be used in a 1998 model Puma with their original runners and without any additional parts? (I tried to ask Fiesta Mk3.5 runners from local Ford parts dealer and he did not find anything from their system. Does anyone have finis codes? Without them it is impossible to find right parts.)

On ebay there are many Recaros taken from Escorts and Fiestas for sale and they all look same, but is there a version which is easier to install on a early type Puma?

I have read from the wiki that Millennium Puma´s leather seats would fit, but I think it would be impossible to get those...

Recaros were offered in the Millennium and in a special edition in mainland Europe called the Futura in some markets.

These seats are similar to those fitted to the 95on Escort RS2000, and are based on the standard seats, as fitted to 97-98 Puma, Escort and Fiesta. The only difference between Escort and Puma/Fiesta is a slightly lower runners.

While the Escort runners do fit, they will lift the height of the seat. Best bet is to strip down the Recaro bases, strip down the standard Puma bases, weld on the Recaro supports, knock off the collars on the back of the Puma base frame and rebuild.

I think the early Puma pretensioners are the same as the Escort items, so no problem there.

Later Recaro equipped Pumas actually have a unique pretensioner because they have the old style seats but the later SRS system.

IIRC you could spec recaro cloth seats on early puma's but it was discontinued due to poor take up.

Hi, would you happen to know which of all seats lies lower (especially the thighs)?:

- Early OEM seats (until 1999)
- Recaros until 1999 (came in cloth in Europe, rails and internals likely similar)
- Later OEM seats (cloth, leather or half-half, from 2000 onwards)
- Recaros from 2000 onwards (as in all Futura, Millenium, etc editions)

Or any halfway modern, comfy seat that lies lower and fits

Mine is a 1997 1.7 model. Thanks SO much...
