I know I haven’t got my Puma yet, but would 17' wheels and 30mm lowered suspension make a lot of difference to the ride, performance and handling?
Cheers!

Yes it would make a difference especially if you use decent tyres and suspension kit.

lowering on the other hand makes a bigg difference, depends on what kit you get ofcource, but if you go for stiffer springs (obviusley) you wil get less boddey roll and wil therfor be able to take turns even faster.
of cource it looks good to..
I`we got 17 and a 35 mm drop.

I'll just get a Puma first and perhaps borrow some 17s for a day and see what the difference is like.

Depends how fast you intend to drive. If you drive hard it handles worse (bounces and bump steers all over the shop), if you tend to just cruise around and look at your reflection in shop windows it'll be fine.
If you want to know how it's done properly drive an FRP
I recommend you leave the springs/dampers alone and get better tyres/wheels/brakes. Just speaking from experience...

Before spending money on lowering, why not try loading your boot with 4 slabs. This will drop the back end (dont suggest you try driving though as this will not give true feel ) and allow you to work out what looks best.

I have G-MAX suspension (springs+dampers) -30mm and 17s , a slight inner wing mod was needed , simular to FRP, . I have had lowering springs which are ok, but the suspension kit is tops for the money, you get alot less body roll but it doesnt shake your fillings out, its actually smoother than just lowering springs, i think the price of the kit is sub £250.
And it definately handles better.

...and, does the fact that the 17s are wider mean that the track is a bit wider or does the offset compensate?
