I bought it knowing the rear arch on the passenger side was just showing signs of coming through. No rust but the paint is bubbling.
Now as someone who has an OCD on getting old things like new as possible, I intended to have the arches seen to and Dinitrol rustproof the body so it gives the car a long life.
I took it to a Dinitrol service centre and body shop and they have quoted £650 a side for the arches and then £800 for the rust remover and then treatment. As well as service soon, this is going to amount to £5000 essentially total.
Is that price way too high for the work? And if it isn't, would I therefore be better off spending the £2000 on another ;if I can find one) rust free Puma (do they even exist?!)
There's no chance of not having a Puma now as my other half loves it more than me, so I'd be out first.
I fully knew upon purchasing the car that I'd have to spend a good amount looking after it and protecting it for the future but I want to make sure I'm not chucking £2k at one car when I can get another one that has no arch issue/or indeed has already been sorted professionally for the same money.
I am located in Teesside (seen 3 other Pumas this week locally so must be a den of them. I think I saw an FRP at Teesside Park last week but can't be sure), so if anyone has any recommendations for bodywork then please do let us know.
