Does anybody know if Pumabuild or Pumaspeed are looking into this conversion? Its sounds like the natural progression to replace the 1700, especially if the 2.3 would fit!!! After all the new Fiesta is to be a 2.0.

I met a lady in Guernsey who had fitted the 2.3 litre engine into her Puma, but she never joined here sad.gif but had a good poke around my FRP at the Hillclimb.
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Focus RS engine is based on the zetec, with a cast Iron block and alloy head, wereby the new Duratec is an all Alloy affair, like the Zetec-SE, and it comes in 2.0 in UK spec and 2.3 in the USA and the Mazda 6.

Yes it does but it is badged up as a duratec.

Could fit the aluminium block one though.

I like the RS Focus engine makes all the hard work worth it

I can see your point there though having seen the picture of Simhoppers engine bay. It does look very neat, and looks like it has always been there. How much is the RS Focus upgrade Alan?

The Focus RS engine is a 2 litre Zetec. The Duratec badge was a marketing ploy to con punters they were buying a state of the art engine when it fact it was based on the 2 litre zetec/mondeo engine... the internals of the Duratec are totally different from the Zetec, much better for tuning too smile.gif

I think Tony @ PS was looking into putting some big engines into fiestas - not sure if he's done one yet, and if so, that doesn't mean it will work with a puma. Might be worth giving him a ring if you're serious.

If 12k is right, I don't think that's an option then. If I was going to spend 12k, I think I would rather put it towards a new car with a lot more power in standard trim. I would probably look towards selling my car and putting 12k to secondhand Porsche for that money. Now if it had been 4-5k then I think I could well be tempted for that!!! Thanks for the reply though.
