I'm now compiling evidence to present to them and support my claim for a sensible offer... if anyone on the FRP list has bought or sold recently for 13k GBP or over I would be grateful for any details.
I also believe this could be in the best interests of all owners in the long term, especially if anybody else should ever need to make such a claim.
Many thanks
Adam

I've also since wondered if oil etc on the road may have got onto my tyres - there were three (!) other serious accidents on that same stretch of road that night and I had only just gone past a Peugeot laying on its roof at the side of the road...in hindsight maybe I was relatively lucky, at least I was unhurt apart from a couple of minor nicks where a roadsign went through my windscreen about 10 inches from where my head could have been
As I've since mentioned to Chris Downes, those Sparco seats and the seatbelt pretensioners saved my life by holding me in place so well.

A really mint FRP should IMHO still fetch 14-15k.

That's what I am trying to explain to my insurers.
My car was absolutely A1 condition, barely even a chip to be found, X reg and had just that night ticked over 9000 miles. I washed it every week, regularly waxed it, the interior was always spotlessly clean.
In fact, the more I think about it, the more I want to get another one!

Note sure how these claims work, but it may help to collect as much info as possible, re what it would cost to replace urs now with a like for like one for sale..

Wait for it...
7850 GBP.
I would have laughed but it was so poor it's not even funny. Suffice to say further action is currently underway, but as I mentioned I would be grateful if anyone knows of any recently sold FRPs of comparable condition to my own so I can add weight to my argument.

...you've been paying insurance for an FRP but offered you a payout equivalent to a Puma 1.6...
Sounds like an insurance company to avoid...

If it helps at all, I bought my FRP # 0180 about 7 weeks ago. I paid £12,500 for it. The milage was 32k miles.
Did you inform the insurance company that it was an FRP. I had to tell them mine was an FRP because it only came up on there system as a standard 1.7
Good luck chap

This insurance business is a bit scary - I had quotes posted out to me and most had the car as a 1.7 16v!! even HPI had it described the same
My insurance certificate finally is right - it says Ford racing coupe!

Still considering my options for when I get a 'proper' car again. Steve may be selling his ST170 for a very good price, but then having been passenger in an FRP with the windows open recently (thanks Chris!) I'm getting very tempted...
My only reservations with getting another Ford are that my local dealers are disgustingly bad and have really put me off buying anything new enough to have a warranty.
Other options include an Integra Type-R (about the closest rival to an FRP), Civic Type-R (numb steering but superb engine) or maybe I'll test drive some of the latest hot hatches (i.e. 172 Cup, Cupra R) and see what they're like.

Watch out for sliding depreciation on the ST170...it could turn out to be a very expensive car overall.
Not all the Ford dealers are bad, but changing brand doesn't guarantee your dealer woes will be over. However I do find some dealers in general are good, like Nissan, Toyota, Honda etc...
The Integra R is still the only other car I would consider over an FRP, but running the sums on ownership costs puts the FRP well ahead. Once you take into account servicing, depreciation (I know someone on this forum keeps dumbing the value of the FRP but once you actually open your eyes and see the fact that I will have only lost about £2k over 1.5 years and 20k miles of driving, and there is a VERY real prospect GOOD GENUINE FRPs can appreciate unlike a std. 1.7 Puma), driving dynamics (you are familiar with this )...OK you can get faster cars but that doesn't mean they are better overall...
I'm sure after test driving a few of the mainstream models you'll find they lack that certain something (especially after you see about 100 others on your test drive!).
