Hey all...,

Been mega building some more of these for customers and a demo car for a local rally school.
After competing in stage rallying for over 13 years in novas, subarus, evos, escorts etc, i took some time out and
wanted to build something to compete in some road rallys. After nipping about in the mrs puma now and again, i thought
these have potential, so using my previous knowledge i set about building one. took about 4-5 weeks to build, and on its
first outing it finished a very credable 4th OA on 'the preston', which is like norfolks very own dakar rally, it is 225 miles of
forests, farm tracks and fields, really rough terrain and it performed with out fault, A navigator error cost us first place!

It has since done 2 more rallys, and has performed yet again, without fault.

Breif Spec....
Part seam welded shell, cage designed by myself, built by a friend who makes cages ;)
welded tubular seat frames
alloy seat mounts
duralumin 6mm sumpguard
1700 engine, cam timing altered, 4 branch manifold, bespoke centre pipe, GP A nova backbox
induction kit.
FRP gearbox with lsd
seam welded subframe and rose bushed 2 piece front wishbones.
rose jointed track rod ends
Bilstein coilovers all round (170lb front springs, 110 lb rear springs)
disc braked rear axle
ABS pump and all traction control and abs rubbish removed
master cylinder modified to allow seperate front and rear brake pipes.
hydraulic upright handbrake
bias valve
motordrive seats
sabelt belts
goodridge lines
grooved discs all round
mintex 1144 rear pads
ferrodo ds2500 front pads
plus a bit more...!!!

Are the 2 piece wishbones something you've fabricated or bought? Some photos would be interesting.

they are actually an off the shelf pattern part, strip them down, seam weld them and rebuild them,
we have tested both the pressed type (ford OE part) and these modified two piece items, on my rally car,
pressed type bent very easy and flexed alot, got through a few pairs, the modified two piece items have now done 7 rallys
with a total mileage of 1267,of which around 350 were rough whites and they are still perfectly straight.

i can build you a pair if interested, with a choice of bushes or rose bearings.

Yeah, he would do more cages, I have another puma going for a cage in next few weeks.
The rear is now running bilstein b6 dampers. The fronts we made ourselves. Coil over bodies & bilstein escort cosworth gravel inserts.
