Hi all I'm in the process of converting a standard air box into a FRP spec air box. I hope to have it complete in the next couple of weeks. The picture shows the converted air box on the left and the FRP one on the right.

I think we spoke before about what I did on mine. Using bits from a Fiesta Zetec-S, I opened up the front inlet and positioned it downwards next to the horn. The trunking running up inside the wing I completely removed . I also removed the resotator box inside the top of the filter housing as you appear to have as well.

I'll be very interested to read you guide Dunc, as by the looks of the parts on display, it will be a close replica of the orignal Ford Racing / Tickford effort. biggrin.gif

strange the things Ford Racing 'designed' in as part of their conversion lol.... the shopping list includes 185mm of black drainpipe from B&Q! Shame they only sell it in 2m lengths wink.gif

You could start selling converted boxes by exchange and use that extra pipe!

Do they do different colours?
Colour coding or contrast is very in vogue tongue.gif

I dunno, B&Q only had black (maybe they were listening to Henry lol) but maybe Wickes or Homebase could get you...erm... yellow ones wink.gif

Only just found this, I have done a similar thing with mine..

Removed resonator of course, do frp's have these?
Totally removed 'wing feed'
Removed 'front bung' and attached k&n foil air feed pipe (not quite as big as frp one, same size as std front outlet)

The resonator is removed but the "wing feed" pipe is still inplace with a rubber cap over one of the holes.
The hose is cut shorter and and used on the front, on the picture the right is a real FRP airbox the wing feed pipe was still on the car,
but the one on the left is my handywork biggrin.gif .

Been abit dark at night to take more pics and work out the length of the hose.

We make Plastic drain pipes and fittings where I work?

I could do a good line in 185mm sections of black pipe laugh.gif

Being a Fiests my car didnt actual have a feed in the wing like that. The previous owner just had the bit of k&n pipe i now have on the front and to the grille, off the side into the wing!

Wouldn't it be easier to ditch the stock filter body and use a K&N kit instead?

it doesnt take much searching on google to find out why k&n and alike are a bad idea, when power is the main objective

sounds like a good plan...

might be clearer to just make the finished tutorial a sticky and then close it.... so it doesn't get clouded and diluted with endless 'dross'....

speaking from experience... wink.gif

What would people use a suitable air feed pipe? the FRP one seems to be some kind of fabric tubing. My FRP box is currently air feedless with the pipe s(---) in air nearer the engine rather than the intended grill position. I have trouble finding a suitable replacement as I find the aluminium ducting etc seems difficult to work with and and there's always gaps when you use a jubiliee clip to fix it to the pipe so it's still suck in air from them gaps.
FRP = Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Go to a scrap yard, I have seen this type of pipe on Peugeot 206's and 307's of Petrol and Diesel variety!
