I discovered a company called cnc heads while looking at tuning options for the frp. I've since emailed them and in return have quoted an estimate power output of 195bhp correct to within 1bhp. To achieve this, a cnc ported and gas flowed head would be required along with there cams and dreamscience.

That seems a good output, can this be true?

So far they have given me a price on the dreamscience fitted and mapped - £550. They're giving me price on the rest tomorrow. Seems good!

Yeah i've already told them, if you was to do it to a normal 1.7 they said all the mods that the frp has on the inlet and exhaust manifold would be required to achieve as good of a result! so guess by having an FRP we've saved on certain things biggrin.gif

wonder if it would still tickover ok as some modified engines run like crap but normally with race cams

these guys have been around for ages, one of them used to work in f1, spends ages perfectly porting one head then scans it in & CNCs exact copies

i thought they were the guys pb used tho...

bit suprised ud get 195bhp using dream science tho, thought it was more of a tacky add on, id go for a proper pectel or emerald ecu... ie as used by s1600 which should open up 200bhp+ with proper rods & high rev limit...

these days decent ecu's can have multiply personalities giving you outright performance or town driving maps at the flick of a switch

Sounds very good though! even with dreamscience.

I would of thought that the driveshafts should withstand an extra 40ish bhp? or am i kidding myself roflmao.gif

Just had another email of them -

it costs labour £400 +vat to fit the head and set the cams up
we need the car 3 -4 days torque is up 15%

So i make it 550 for dreamscience and map
400 for labour
750 for head
297 for VAT (roughly)

Total - £1997

He didnt mention the if the cams came with the head or if they was extra??

What do you recon?

think they will be extra.

i am very very interested in this but just want to know what the cams are like as i dont want the car running like a bag of pooe on tickover for when stuck in traffic etc.

Me too, but i cant find a price on there site? im 170 miles away from them, are you any closer? be a good idea to check them out. Although they do seem very professional from the site.

I've read on the ffoc site (that the missus is a member of) several members on there have had the cnc treatment on there st170's all of which broke well in to the 210 - 220bhp mark. So they do work! One member did report unsteady idle due to the cams but sounded great because of this??

I to will be watching this with interest...if its true, then i'll be on the phone to them.... wink.gif

This is the same head as what warren had on his car. You will need a head a set of cams and dreamscience but i guess cost would be closer to £3,000 buy the time all parts are fitted.

Warrens head is for sale and it has the cams and is all shimed up ready to go. (£1,000)
