I have noticed a black soot round the end of my exhaust, is this down to an engine problem?

I get it too, some say it can be down to a faulty hego otherwise I dunno, burnt off oil perhaps?, doesnt seem to affect the car in any way but its annoying having to clean the pipe more often than I would like

it doesn't effect the cars performance at all, it's just that when i'm driving behind another kat i never see this.

I get this on my Kat too. My Dad looked at it (as Dad's do!) and said it was due to petrol not burning properly in the engine. However I'm still getting a good MPG (38 on my last fill up - but its mostly motorway driving) and my performance is not affected.

AKA a Lambda Sensor
I get it too, and i've had my car put on diagnostics at Pumabuild (for a different reason), but they could find no faulty sensors
