Yes, your Puma will be much faster.

This is due to transferring all that weight from your wallet to Pumabuild's till.

roflmao.gif oh my god.. that's one way to look at it tongue.gif roflmao.gif

No, you won't. The cambelt just makes sure the valves open and close at the right time.

Peace of mind will make your car feel much better.

I know mine did when it was done earlier this year.

Over time your cambelt will stretch, which is where the cambelt tensioner comes in handy, it stops the valves hitting the pistons and grenading your engine, which will happen when it snaps.
Also thanks to our friends who think its cool to blow up their Fiesta engines then transplant a Puma engine into it means that Puma engines are now getting scarce as well.
You should not notice any real improvement in performance, but can rest assured that it will not need to be done again for another 5 years.
If the cost is prohibitive then shop around for the best deal, but cheapest is not always best - make sure that the proper Ford kit is used, as aftermarket ones tend to be substandard and do not fit well - if at all.

I had the exact same thought, "would i notice a difference",

I will find out thursday when i get mine done, but even with my scarce bit of engine knowledge, i cant seem to think of a anything it will alter, as people have said, unless they do it wrong.

On the strong advice of "PumaPilot" I have booked mine into Tremona Garage, in Southampton. They are replacing the following for me.......

Cam Belt
Tensioners
Rocker cover gasket
Bottom crankshaft pulley bolt
Inlet cam pulley replacement bolt
Alternator drive belt

It is all genuine Ford parts, as a result, all parts come with a years warranty.

As someone said, cheaper isnt always better, some places quote a price for just the cam belt, not the whole kit. And after ringing my local ford dealer earlier for a quote, they informed me it didnt need doing just yet, it only needs replacing after 10 years and 100k, and they have "apparently" NEVER heard of one snapping before this time....

Lets see,

Fraud replace it now, it costs me Å“300+

They dont replace it now, it blows all 16 valves out of my engine and ends up costing me Å“1500+

I think ill listen to you guys, my car isnt going to Ford,

BRING ON TREMONA!!

Cheers pumapilot

Craig

I have heard of both belts going and tensioner units.
would be interesting to see if you could claim off that dealer if it had snapped and you hadn't changed it ja_stupid.gif doubt it.

On the subject of cams, i went to find out how much it would cost out here in Italy.

obviously i translated 'cambelt kit' into Italian.

I just want to be sure this is the right thing (see below)

I think it would be an interesting case if someone was given the wrong information by Fords, then their engine was damaged by a broken belt. wink.gif

As for getting Fraud to pay up if they gave the wrong advice, i was informed by my local fraud garage, that if the belt snapped and caused damage to the engine, they could ring through and see where i stood.

Although, i cant imagine they would EVER pay up!

They will always find a way not too!

Although, a passing note, the guy that told me it was 10 years or 100k, wasnt prepared to give that to me in writing, although i do think he thought i was joking, although, if he had, that could have been interesting! blink.gif

not sure ja_stupid.gif
if that is the cam belt or the auxillory drive belt.
The part number is for the Ford Cam Belt Kit (includes pre-tensioner and stretch bolt) (I think)
Finis Part No: 1203767
from the Knowledge Base, where no one looks wink.gif
