Hi Guys,

I've got an ipod that I want to connect to the car, how do I?! :S I don't want to use an fm transmitter as it's cack except for short journeys. I just have the standard c'd player fitted.

Thank you xx

fm transmitter with frequency set to preset on radio, mine was 6. other option is new head unit with ipod connectivity, halfords have some decent budget units, i got a ripspeed in my van with usb, sd reader. on offer at moment too Clicky

i know you can get an ipod connection wire for new mondeo ford stereos but i don't think the ones in pumas are adaptable. Your in the same boat as me with this dilema, think the best option is to buy a stereo with the ipod connection wire and the fascia to replace the standard one. Car audio security seem the best prices on the internet, based in london. But phone them beforehand to check they have one in stock, as when i ordered the full setup-amp, sub etc, i waited 2weeks and no delivery, when i phoned them they hadn't even got it in stock so i cancelled.

Get connector

Pull radio out ( need to radiop clips from Halfords for this ) NB if you dont have radio code don't disconnect the power, just make sure radio is off

Plug adapter in back of radio

Drop leads behind the dash to just behind the gear stick ( easy )

Push radio back in

Plug cable into iPod

hit cd button on radio ( twice IIRC ) and press play on iPod.

remember, the volume relies on both radio vol level and iPod vol level

And away you go smile.gif

It's the easiest job in the world to get the stereo out and plug one of these adapters in. Trust me, if I can do it then anyone can.

All I would say is watch what you do with the clips that pull the radio out, they have sharp ends and can easily scratch the silver on the stereo (said from experience on previous Puma).

IPOD's are simply superb, I like them so much I have two ja_stupid.gif

I've put 800 tracks on mine and it's still hungry for more, don't think it's even half full up roflmao.gif

Along with the internet and squirty tomato ketchup bottles, I don’t know how I managed without one.

Hi
I have a 6006E radio (the one with the 6 CD changer inside). When I searched some time ago, all I could find on the web was that there was not an adaptor lead available that would work with this particular model. Has anyone got an Ipod connected to a 6006E?
Thanks.
Rick

The Haynes Fiesta Manual (3397) can answer a lot of your questions.

Might just being the dumb blonde that i am but why not just get an itrip? i have one and all you do is plug into base of the ipod and set the FM station to the one corresponding with the itrip??? works on all cars i ever been in and that includes ones with oldest stereos in you could imagine

and why would it be cack for short journeys mines automatically set so i only have to press play on my ipod!

Think you have to unplug the changer and the ipod adaptor plugs into the now empty socket.

Oh and itrips are useless in and around London where the airwaves are polluted with ear fog. You won't find a clear millihertz on the fm band. Also, driving long distances mean you can never be sure your itrip preset won't interfere with some local claptrap station.
