New Key Fob. Rcl Working, Immobiliser Not.

I picked up another key fob from ebay, as I couldn't reprogram mine. It was only £6 so I thought I might as well.

The fob programed instantly to the RCL and that works fine, but it doesn't work with my immobilser (using my old blade attached to the key).

Is there a way to reprogram the immibiliser, or do I need to do something else?

If it helps, the code on my old fob ended with AA, and the newer one is AD.

Thanks

Do you have the old keyfob still? the bit that de-activates the immobiliser can be swapped into the new key if memory serves me right smile.gif

RCl reprogramming is easy enough to do, the "expensive" bit is the immobilisier, btw even if the rcl on it works, it wont allow the car to start.
If you have 2 keys you can programme a third or more, if you only have one key then unfortunatley its a job fr Frauds and its something like £72 inc VAT

Just had a quick go with the instructions on Mirez, and I can't get it to work.

Any other ideas?

If you still have your old remote try the PATS II instructions with the normal key and your blade front part with the old remote not completely inserted so you can switch it easily. After the step with the second already programmed key (the blade front part with the old remote) switch the old remote with the new one and do the last steps.

If it helps I have a picture of a 2 button remote completely disassembled (from my flip-key project). Maybe the transponder for the immobilizer is still the same (that little glass tube in a red rubber frame)

Cheers, thats what I was trying to do. I have 2 fob's and only 1 cut blade that works. Maybe the blade has to match upto the fob - which is why it doesn't work.

You can combine the blade with any remote that fits physically. The only reason you need the blade is to operate the door locks to open the doors and to operate the ignition lock to deactivate the steering wheel lock which is mechanical (that is what the little T-key is for) and both things have nothing to do with the immobilizer which only inhibits starting the engine if it is not registered to the car.

Have you tried to open the old and new fob to switch the transponders. That way you don't have to do all that recoding stuff.

Or you could try to operate only the blade and just hold the fob near it so that the receiver ring that is situated around the ignition lock.

Which is the transponder to swap around though? (3btn remote)

My old key fob won't work with the RCL, but does obviously work the ignition/immobiliser.

Do you see the little long thing in the upper row right to the red one on the pic that I have posted? That's it... well I suppose that it is still the same on the 3 button remote. Just have a look for something red inside the remote because it is normally inside of that. If there is nothing red and on the back of your normal key is a blue square look for something blue inside the remote.
