A guy on here called "brutha lynch hung" has an FRP with Focus RS 18" wheels too. I have never seen an FRP with any other 18" wheel other than the FRS one.

Hi all!

I'm fairly new to this site. As you can probably see from my profile (Left) I have a standard 1.7 Puma. I'm shopping around for kits & wheels etc. Basically ideas that'll make it look a bit more mean!

I've looked at so nice Alloys (multispokes) but I'ld love to get 18's with 225/35/18R Tyres. I'm thinking the low profile and getting the type as narrow as it'll go on the alloy will be ok.

Has anyone ogot 18's on their puma? if so what tyres and does it rub etc on steering? or rub over bumps in road?

Hope you all have some great advice! you all seem to be very helpful else where!

Ta!
Andy

I run mine on 225/40/18 and it is an FRP body.
It is OK to be fair on 18's and the ride is good i have recently swaped back on to 17's to see if there is a lot of difference and i think i do prefer the 17's for handling but the 18's dont light up as easy as the 17's good job i have 2 sets as i cant make my mind up

Do the 18"s make it accelerate any slower? Which are lighter?

Mine used to spin the wheels in first three gears on the 18's in the dry but i think she is getting slower as i think the head gasket may have gone :eyes:

There is a great deal in it really i think i will run it on 17" for the trackday with slicks

Well that's conclusive then! biggrin.gif Nevermind, I haven't the money at the mo. So I have a while to think about it.

However one smaller point: My Kat's not a FRP, Will the 18s rub on a normal 1.7? Is there really that much difference in the arch? ja_stupid.gif

Thanx for the replys guys & gals

Andy

They do need major arch work I think. There is a Puma on here with 18"s, and they look great, but do dwarf the breaks. Maybe a steering limiter too. They won't rub too bad after that.

18 s will make standard brake disks on a std puma look ridicules, I saw some 17" 6/7 spoke wheels on a R reg Puma the other week and the disks looked like 10p coins (slight exaggeration, but they did look very small)

hmmm....decisions decisions. I wonder why they never put 18's as standard on the FRP, i can understand some points ie handling but they put 18's on the new RS

Because when the FRP came out over 4 years ago, most cars still had 15's and 16's on them, and that made the 17" wheels look cool. Now wheel sizes need to match the larger cars and the chav crowd, so they stick 18's on everything!
