Hello I'm new to this but would like to find out if anyone could help me with a small problem with my car.
I have had my beautiful car for four months and have found that after starting and setting off that she coughs! It sometimes sounds the same as if you have crunched the gears, but she does it before I have changed gear. Any clues?

May I bid you a very warm welcome to Pumapeople - the site for discerning Puma drivers. biggrin.gif

Does it only happen once per trip?
Does it happen at about 15mph in first or second gear?

If you answered yes to both of the above questions, then it's probably the anti-lock braking/traction control system doing a self check.
Absolutely normal for a Puma.
Nothing to worry about. good.gif

biggrin.gif Thank you very much, its been bothering me since I've had her, it all makes sense now.
My car is so lovely I was really worried that I'd bought a dud. Its a Puma Black and she was very low milage so I bag myslef a bargin. As someone who has only been driving for 8 months should have done it about 10 years ago, I'm very proud and protective of my beautiful car. At least you can be bullied in a puma, just put your foot down and leave them behind.

Thank you once again.

As mentioned, this is normal and happens to all Puma’s, so no need to worry at all. Never heard it called a cough before, but I think that’s the best description I’ve ever heard. Certainly better then someone saying it farts biggrin.gif

Glad to hear you love your new car, Puma Blacks are nice and rare ja_cool.gif
