I did a 600 mile round trip over the easter weekend and after that mine was looking quite discoloured so I dug out the heat wrap that I got a month or so ago and applied it to most of the area behind the manifold, hopefully that will have cured it.

I have to say it looks like you made a much neater job of it than I did!!

alan did yours jus stick straight on? i cleaned the area then tried to stick it on but it kept falling off. still got some left but wanted to make sure i wasnt doin nethin wrong?
buy toyota celica GT4. fix puma, again. then sell

130 bhp upgrade and handling that makes the puma feel useless on a corner
now thats money better spent.

it stuck onto the actual white steering rack bit and hasnt moved but the bit above that is like a carpet material it keeps coming away from that.

im gonna stick it back with something this weekend.

but most of it has stayed on .

perhaps the cleaner you used stopped it sticking or it was still a bit wet??

Mine wasn't that sticky but I just did my best with it, I didn't put much effort into cleaning the area I was sticking it to but it seems to have stayed put for now!

no that is not for the heith shield
that is to fix it to the lower fixing braket
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

So does anyone have problems with ground clearance with the milltek 421? I got so cheesed with it on my fez that I took it off and cut 30mm out of the down pipes. It never touches the floor anymore but does rattle against the subframe when I get to biting point in reverse. If I did it again I'd only cut 25 out!!!
I pass people with thick wallets but no oil under their fingernails

Mine grates a bit over the odd speed hump, but not enough to bother me.

well if i'd smelt burning/melting there's no way i'd just ignore it for a yr!! the minute i smelt it i'd have had the bonnet open & would've spent as long as it took to find where it was coming from!!

just a quick word of warning if you guys are heat wrapping the whole manifold be warey if the manifold gets very hot say a 200 mile trip the heatwrap will make it very brittle and over time your end up with a cracked manifold so try an keep heat wrap to a minimum and use it only where needed smile.gif

I only think 1 member has heat-wrapped their manifold, and they are aware of the problems it causes.

You say theres no facility to fit the original heat sheild, but what are the fabricated captive nut mounting points that are clearly visable on the primaries, and why ,'aint nothing bolted to them?

yeah it is possible its just for some reason they never put it back on when fitting the miltek manifold, tell a lie it did have a tiny top piece but the lower half was missing, all sorted now i ordered a full size one and put it on :-).

Pick my FRP up with a milltec on, cant say that i have had any issues with the plastic section around the steering rack assembley but it seems ovious theres somthing a miss there, if the flow and back pressure are correct or unless you drive it constanltly like you nicked it, there sshould not be a problem. If it was me i would check the cat and back box to see they are clear, then contact Milltec they would probley like to see whats happened, this is not really good press
