(a) My inclination is to replace both dampers at the same time - if they're £50 each then I would - should I, or should I not bother?
(b) Is there a specific make/model of damper I should go for? Or avoid? I want to replace with a quality similar to the factory-fitted.
© Is it easy to remove the existing spring/damper unit?
(d) Is it easy to remove the spring FROM the damper unit?
(e) Estimated job time?

Thanks,
Dave.

OK I'll try my best ..

a) Yes, replace in pairs.
cool.gif Check on this forum for recommendations or do some research.
c) Jack up on sill, 17mm bolt at bottom, 16mm or 14mm at top. Remove unit.
d) Compress spring, get a mate to press down on top mount while you struggle to remove the clip/or nut.
e) Workshop situation @ 30 mins. Scratting about in the gutter @ as long as it takes.

Sorry I can't be much more help this time of night.
Good luck and remember..SAFETY FIRST wink.gif

Replace in pairs, definitely. I paid around £70 each from Ford, iirc. Did the job on my own and took around an hour for the first one, half an hour for the second. Worst bit is removing/replacing trim over top mounts, but you do need spring compressors.

Yeah spring compressors make for a less stress experience but I just stress the guy on the ramp
next to me by getting him to press down on the mount while I release the clip wink.gif

Yeah, it doesn't need much, but when you haven't got an extra pair of hands handy... smile.gif

Thanks for your replies! A local parts company said they can supply Kayaba dampers for £34, or I can get Ford original parts for £47. I haven't been able to find any useful/conclusive advise... I gather the Kayaba dampers will actually be better as they're gas charged, the Ford ones are just oil filled and overpriced because they're original parts. Which one should I choose?

Cheers, Dave.
