I gave the engine bay the once over yesterday and checked oil etc as I was taking a friend out in the car and giving it a good trash with the Nitrous oxide system turned on.
It seems I'm down to three engine cover screws.
They appear to have vibrated out :(
A trip to local scrap yard is on the cards for Wednesday I think.
Unless anyone has a few spare one cheap?

they're a proper pain... i had some new ones that did this...you get stuck between doing them up so they don't budge and round off...or they just vibrate out.. :comp: :head:

JUST SPENT OVER AN HOUR YESTERDAY TRYING TO GET ROUNDED ONES OFF

MAYBE UNORTHADOX AND NOT STRICTLY "PC " BY SOME PEOPLES RECKONING
BUT I HAVE JUST CUT STRAIGHT SLOTS INTO THEM ALL
JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY COME OFF EASIER NEXT TIME

I might just fit some stainless cap heads, I will have a rummage at work to see what we have that fits.

I think it's M6 x 12 from memory...iv'e tried a few different bolts/button head etc in there, but they all look crap against the nice chrome standard ones...

dilema! :)

Buy decent, but not overly expensive torx bit set (halfords pro is good enough).

Insert slightly oversized Torx bit. Add fairy taps from large-ish hammer.

Unscrew.

And they're cheap enough from ford - just grab a bakers dozen and leave some in a drawer with the torx set for when they inevitably round out again...

About six months ago, damned sure I didn't pay that much but buggered if I can find the receipt.

Er, in that case, take 'em to a small local engineering shop and ask them if they can measure the thread for you, and put some decent ones in. And disregard my previous comment :D

Still running with about 3 bolts holding the cover on.
Not at the top of my list to do as its doesn't effect performance ;)

I will take a trip down the scarp yard at some point, there are about 5 Puma's in there.
