Hey

Needing to get some new headlight bulbs asap got sum xenon ones from ebay on the cheap and they are rubbish look really bright but cant see much at all.

Anyone recomend any ? went halfords today and they were priced sky high as usual. (been looking at philips blue vision ones any good?)

If anyone can give suggestions and a website i can purchase these from that would be great. (want to get quick and cant go to shops because of work)

Now I've tried Halfords extra bright xenon I wouldn't use anything else - they are brilliant. If you are lucky they might be BOGOF .... £19.99 for 2

Go to a decent garage and get someone who knows what they are doing to set the lights up properly for you and save your money.
Most Pumas left the factory with badly adjusted lights, i am quite happy to drive through the New Forest @ 60mph - on original dipped beams.

The first one cost me full price when I had to replace one that had blown. When I saw the difference I replaced the other 3 too.

Just replaced my 7 year old standard bulbs for the Halfords Super Bright Xenons (£19:99 each). I reckon they gave me instantly 50% more light, as claimed, though that's not difficult comparing with the old ones laugh.gif So you could think of £80 as a lot to pay, but they are a great set of bulbs, so I'm happy.

Take the time to set up the lights - I did mine against a garage door and then took it out on the road, stopping occasionally and tweeking the settings with a hex key.
2000/X 1.7, SS Piper/FRP exhaust system + manifold, Green panel filter, FRP airbox mod + 3" feed to front grill, Pumabuild FRP ECU map (Dreamscience 3000), EBC grooved discs + Green stuff pads, SS brake hoses, Toyo Proxes T1-R all round, AP Coilovers (running at -35mm), Powerflex bushes + ford uprated bushes on rear of front wishbone, 10mm rear hub spacers, Halfords Super Bright Xenon headlight bulbs, big Alpine ICE system with iPOD control.

A good set of xenons do wonders, as do clear unspeckled lenses!

DONT forget to realign teh headlamps after removal as mentioned above (drive up close to a wall and adjust on the fly)

Well as I read theres no filters in non-blue blubs which steal light rays so you'll have a wider and futher headlight beam plus a better cut off point ja_cool.gif

Anyone with fancy bulbs fancy a 'light-off' against my bog standard 65W 9005s in my clean, properly adjusted lights?

What we're looking for a comparison of actual usable light on the road so you can drive at night, not brightness/glare or a nice colour cool2.gif

I'd be happy to put my good quality, clean, properly adjusted HIDs up against you, I find the light very usable indeed compared to the standard, clean, properly adjusted ones they replaced.

But I'm not driving to Oxford just to prove a point wink.gif

You raise a valid point though, people need to address the basics before throwing cash at the problem and then buying inferior cosmetic bulbs that simply give the appearance of being brighter.

I'm glad you grasped my point smile.gif

Don't forget to eat those carrots too and also ensure your windscreen is absolutely clean inside AND out and use good screenwash...
