I'd recommend fitting an oil cooler before doing a track day with this car, it was built to go flat out on track for only short periods at a time. As a bare minimum fit an oil pressure gauge and oil temperature gauge to see whats happening and drive accordingly :)

Hi! :D Are you the origional owner of the car ? Ive just arived back from cadwell today minus the puma. I didnt see this post yesterday and in our naivety spiritedly drove the car at cadwell for anything up to 20 minutes at a time. Unfortunatley the turbo appears to have started leaking oil at some point and this eventually led to a small fire!!! Fortunatley the marshalls were very proactive and pulled us off immediatley to quench the flames. On first inspection there appears to be very little if any damage to the car but it remains at cadwell to be collected on a trailer in the morning. I will certainly be fitting an oil cooler and the appropriate guages to this car before further cajoling!! Once the oil leekage problem has been sorted. Tommorrow I will post some rather horrifying but interesting pictures! Untill then i'll leave you to laugh at my stupidity! :D

I forgot to mention that for the first few sessions the car was Fantastic!!! Such a predictable and chuckable chassis! Even on road tyres. I'll put pictures up this evening.

Certainly am... also whatever you do don't adjust the bleed valve to try and get more power, unless you do a host of other mods, you will only end up wrecking it. Also if you develop a boost leak (ie get over 12.5 to 13 psi shown on the boost gauge stop boosting, find the problem and get it sorted.

First of all Congratulations on building sutch a well developed car. secondly please dont worry about my apparently nonchelant attitude to the cars well being, this mishap does not represent my passion to preserve the car and as such it is being very very well looked after. It looks like the oil leek may be down to a dogey oil return pipe rather than the turbo itself. I am very gratefull for your advice, my experience of turbo cars and this one in particular is very limited, and i welcome any further advice you could offer....

nice to hear you are going to look after my old car the same way myself and Rob did :) If you ever fit a DL1 data logger you can use the extra loom I installed under the passenger side footwell carpet :)

Any Q's, feel free to ask :)

Hi

I'm Turbys partner Lisa, I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the car, we had many hours of fun in him, look after him :) I hope the mini fire wasn't too bad? :(

Hope to catch up with you at a meet someday to see the old boy again :)
