Hello there, ive had leakage from the power steering pipes and have been told by the garage Ford have discontinued the original parts and replaced with rubber.Quote for repairs 400. Is there another solution to this? It seems the parts costs are hundreds.
Thanks for any advice.
Matt

Used pipes but they're rare in good condition.

Where is the leak and does the car have air con?

Hi Ian,the leak is coming from the front of the car, right at the bottom (under) of the engine, the garage said 2 new pipes were needed. Yes the car has aircon.thanks for the reply. I did look on the site, but didnt see any other entries for this problem.

Ive just seen a post from pumagritte 10th June 2014 this is the same as what i have a problem with.

This is the one -

Very common as the metal portion is exposed under the car and corrodes.

Only problem with that listing is I have no stock just now, but that's most likely the pipe you need.

Cheers for the reply, I will look into again, although some of the main dealers here have just been taken over.

I have the same issue - the pipes that run in a U-shaped loop across the front of the radiator that belong to the power steering circuit are leaking. Have people definitely been able to source this part through normal Ford dealers? Is the new rubber alternative part the only available replacement from Ford now?

Thanks.

Got some used ones off eBay - Ian G's shop I think - will give them a try.

Got a friendly mechanic who will take a look at that and the PS pressure sensor as well. He knows Zetec-S 1.7 Puma engines well - he once built a car with two of them in it, one rear and one front, linked with some sort of clever driveshaft that could compensate for differences in output from each plus geering etc. No idea whether he ever got it running though...

Thanks.
