'graunching' Noise
#1

Hi
I got my [V-reg] Puma last month and I love it.
But [why is there always a 'but'?] the car is making what I can best describe as a 'graunching' noise when I turn left. It's like a vibration coming up through the clutch mainly but maybe the brake pedal a bit too.
The garage I got it from (some distance away) have investigated and replaced the brake pads and discs which was nice but didn't solve the problem. Their mechanics couldn't hear it apparently, but my passengers have commented so I'm not going nuts. It seems to be when I'm turning or have turned left.
Any thoughts please?

Welcome to Pumapeople.
My Puma does this due to wear on the discs - more noticable when its wet, it could also be ABS related if the brake pedal judders.
Also if it only does it once when first starting off, then its the ABS self test and all Pumas do it.
Put your location into your profile then we can point you in the direction of a Puma friendly garage.

searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

I live in Worcester, but I bought the car in Kitts Green in Birmingham - and still have 'warranty' with them for another month!

only 3 years later - am happy to report that graunching noise was a result of abs enabling not turning off - took a Ford diagnostic to sort out. Since then, no graunching. 131,00 miles on the clock and I still love it!
