I'm known for changing my cars frequently, I reckon I've had around 25, maybe more in 12 years but the only thing (realistically) I could entertain replacing the puma with is a FRP!

I've been looking for a Puma replacement for the last 2 years or so, nothing comes close.

FRP = been there done that, prefer standard, with subtle mods.

Save your money and buy a Seat Leon instead - they even look similar.

For me the replacement date is probably August 2009 - that's when the new Lancia Delta comes here in RHD form. 1.9 190 bhp twin turbo diesel please.....

What it won't be is a replacement for the Puma. I still think the Suzuki Swift Gti is as close as you can get today.

Quite a few FRP owners have moved from the standard car to the "wider version" tongue.gif

They are great fun to drive, but do need a bit more upkeep.
The wife has a Diesel Toyota, which we use for "family" trips.
I'm not sure I would have one if it was the only car in the house hold. wink.gif

My 1.7's were a lot more family friendly than Wugsy is.
You have to be a contortionist to get in the back. laugh.gif

Well I'd like is a newer [mine's R Reg], less milage [89,500+],no rust or dents on it [he was like that when I got him] PUMA. Maybe a RFP, Millie, or a Thunder 02.
I'm sorry but I have a soft spot for the new [& old good condition] Minis - in Red

Oh erm, thats absolutely horrid! It looks like a cheapo Chinese market car. puke.gif

I wouldn't mind a Civic Type R for the next car if I can stretch to the insurance.

Can't really find anything that satisfies in the real world like the Puma, you know the one with high fuel prices, savage depreciation, small bumpy roads, expensive garage labour rates and impressive marketing...plenty that offer elements of the Puma but few that can combine them all.

I've never owned an Italian car so I would just love wub.gif one of these. So delightifully and skilfully designed...not brash, aggressive or fashionable.

The design is an aquired taste, the grill is just wrong and the colour really affects how it looks and it's proportions. What I don't understand is why they chose a cream one for the publiciy shots - it looks gopping. Silver or pale blue metalic with a satin black roof looks a bit more stylish in an Italian sort of way.

Not too bad in black either.

You have to own at least one italian car in your life to be a proper petrolhead. Clarkson will tell you it much be an Alfa but so long as it's impractical and unreliable that will do for me wink.gif

Sadly that's the Fulvia concept they're almost certainly never going to manufacture. Based on Fiat Barchetta - itself a very good car. Shame they didn't do it in RHD it would have been a good rival to the MX-5

I agree with you 100% there Col. I remember seeing those pics in 2003 and falling in love with it. It's just perfectly proportioned wub.gif

Why won't they make it? Why.......

I've got the Supra and the Puma at the moment but would like to sell both and find something that covers both bases but I can't seem to come up with anything really, not that I can afford anyway.

I'd be happy with a heavily modded Puma, shocked how much the bug has bitten to be honest but I'd like something a bit newer and understated. I looked at the MKV R32 and S3 recently but they didn't really thrill me in the performance stakes, an EVO or a Spec C previous shape Impreza also ticks a few boxes but are a bit obvious and have an image problem. I considered an older 911 but I'd just be disappointed that I couldn't have the turbo.

Current thoughts are shifting towards an E46 M3 but this changes in a daily basis. What I really need is about £500,000 and a big garage so I can keep a rotation of cars and have a bit spare to swap and change to ones I just want to try out.

I haven't really answered the question... it's a struggle smile.gif

Too expensive for cash strapped Fiat. Also Alfa is supposed to be the 'sporting' brand (odd, I don't remember them dominating the WRC) and it might step on their toes.
