Hi has anyone had this problem. Car was running fine until I stopped at some lights. When I pulled off following the other cars my puma started to kangaroo as I kept up with the other cars. What I found was if I boot it, it runs as normal lovely and smooth and quick. When I have to run it at a normal speed ie at speed for that area of the speed limit etc it starts to kangaroo. What I have found out it only kangaroo's when you keep it at a constant 2000 rpm in any gear.

Would be very greatful if anybody has any idea's on this problem.

Regards mrpike.

How is fuel economy?
Look at your tailpipe (assuming you keep it clean) is there fresh soot deposits?
Does and ODBII port reading show any faults?

Hi happy Kat fuel not to good mind I gave it a good trash back from barmouth and the car seems a bit down on power. I've got two fault codes of P1131 and P0171. It was running fine until I filled the tank up could be nothing to do with that. I fitted a 4-2-1 full miltec system, so I had to lengthen the lambda sensor wire to the cat. My car is a 1997 model with only one lambda sensor before the cat. Thanks for the reply and hope this helps if you or other members could point me in the right direction to sort it out. I can manage most repairs but I can get a little lost in the electronic's.

Regards mrpike.

What I wrote if you replied yes it was going to be HEGO (lambada) and yuo have fiddled with it so it does point that way.
There is a fault code list in the Wiki, be worth looking up those codes.

Cheers happykat will look them up but trying to understand them is another matter. All I did was extend the cable so the lambda sensor fits where the racing puma does in the collector part of the 4-2-1 four branch manifold. I soldiered each wire in turn to avoid making any mistakes and insulated each one and covered it full length of shrink tube. The car had been running fine for the 6 months since I fitted the lambda sensor.

Regards mrpike.

Regards

Cheers happy-kat that makes a lot more sense now. Could you advise me on a suitable place I can get a decent replacement lambda sensor and what type of cost, as their are so many for sale on the web some very cheap and some very expensive, mainly which brand etc. Thanks for your help and advice.

Hi eldoodarino this has crossed my mind as the original lambda sensor was trouble free and this was the sensor I extended. I made a very good job of the extension. The car has been trouble free for 6 months since resiting the sensor. Could you recommend the best way of going forward with this problem now (is which wire would be the best or do they make an extension cable or would a racing puma sensor be suitable, as my puma is an early 97 1.7 model.

Regards mrpike
