Hi all - I know a lot of you do some maintanance on the FRP brakes yourself - but can't find much info about them. I used to look after the ones on my 1.7 but haven't dared take the wheels off my FRP yet!

Any info - what do I need to watch out for? Is it easy to replace the pads etc?

Finally I've seen some of you have piston sealing kits on - any good? Self fit or take it to the experts?

To be honest a few people have tried servicing the Alcons... but it's not easy and there have been some nightmare results... fluid carrier pipes being snapped, etc...

Just take it to a specialist... PumaSpeed or PumaBuild...

ok - if it's not easy then I'm not going to mess around with them, especially with Pumaspeed just up the road from me.

Any tell tale signs when they need servicing?? Not come across any hum yet, and they very rarely screech.

these are not sealing kits rather the rubber seat that the piston sits into as far as I know. I have two bags of them wink.gif they are not actually sealing the calipers from getting pooe in the pistons...

take it to an expert. If I had a garage then I could afford to take my time and have a go.. but I don't so can't. Also being brakes they are important to be done right..
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Fortunately I have a garage and a few tools, so can do simple jobs. But if it isn't simple then I'll let Tony and Chris @ PS play with it instead
