This is my first puma and I'm quite new to this, so bare with me! My 2002 beauty was a cat c in a salvage garage down the road from me in (I'm in Bitterne - Southampton) and for an incredibly cheap price and only 58,000 miles I couldn't refuse! Over the last few months me and my other half have been repairing the damage that the puma had by the previous owner, which was minimal - rear bumper needed replacing, a tail light replacing and a new fog light, apart from that the car is in my opinion a beautiful example of a puma!
The car has gone through the VIC check, passed an MOT and after having a new battery fitted as well, is already to go, just waiting to sell my current car so I can swap cars! Cannot wait to get him on the road
I'm currently only working on the aesthetics on the car and am working on a silver and blue theme, I was thinking of re-spraying the car a nice metallic red however with the paint job on the car I felt it was a shame to think about changing it. So instead I've decided to introduce another colour to the car - blue. This is my progress so far - its only little at the moment!
This is what the car first looked like when I got him:
After a good clean:
So to replace the bumper we went down the scrap yard and found a puma, rare to find in a yard around by me, unfortunately it was black so we decided to give ourselves a challenge and paint it silver! Many hours of work, mostly by my other half later, and was happy with the outcome! As you all know I'm sure its very rare that you get the exact colour with a paint job let alone with spray cans! So I'm really proud of what we achieved on our first attempt! - Hence why the bumper is staying on the car.
Car with the new tail light, fog light and the bumper fitted - after raiding the scrap yards - such a shame to see pumas!
Hopefully this weekend will be polishing it up and making it shiny!
I then had to wait awhile as the car was being put in for an MOT and a VIC check in the space of 4 days, and have only now after the mad christmas rush been able to fiddle with the fun stuff that I've wanted to do!
Found that my puma had the boot light wiring hidden behind the fabric but with no light attached or anything, so decided that I would get myself some blue LED strips to put in instead of a normal boot light - this is how it turned out!
I got a nice christmas pressie as well that I decided to fit yesterday too, although I'm a massive fan of the puma gearstick I thought I would see what it looked like!
And then finally yesterday I decided to add my vinyl onto the petrol cap
Am currently deliberating on whether to change the dashboard lights and clock, already have the led's to do it, but I've looked on the forums and some people say its a tricky job and some don't - any advice or tips would be much appreciated!
I am also going to be spicing the alloys up by spray painting the wheels so there blue and silver and also the wing mirrors and possibly the grills - I know its not to everyone's taste however there are a few silver pumas around my area and wanted mine to be a bit different - think its also something to do with me being a massive fan of Need for Speed and Fast and Furious!
Am also looking into lowering the puma too, but wouldn't know where to start looking, anyone got any advice on what to get and how low to go?
Thanks for looking!
Lindi
