Another engine out job this week... and another few cans of worms I found :)/>

Firstly, why couldn't they make a better solution for the sealing of the top cover...it's bloody useless!...

you can see here all the cylinder head face where the seal sits is just coated with oil (aside from the bits I've wiped)..

Posted Image

plus the usual oil all over the plugs..

Posted Image

this is what happens when people 'mess' with the driveshafts...check out all the dirt and grease stuck to the subframe etc..

Posted Image

I see this on nearly every car I work on...plus it's plastered all over the side of the engine and all over the steering pump and aux pulley... :guns:/> :guns:/> :head:/>

why can't garages get this right... :head:/> hose pliers and a new strap... it really isn't that hard

havn't taken the inner boot off yet but my bet is there is no CV grease in there at all...lol

check this out too... :o/> :o/>

as I pulled off the steering hose and collected the contents...here's what I collected.. :puke:

Posted Image

something that resembled macdonalds chocolate milkshake :D/> you can see the new stuff next to it.... don't think i'll be putting that back in.. :D

nearly finished the engine side of things...

need to crack on with the front suspension arms too and anti-roll bar

More cans of wormsPosted Image
You love em reallyPosted Image
Chris, that silver 1.7 you did for me about 6 months back...we just got it back on the road again after front suspension rebuild.
Engine is very sweet now and it handles a lot better without the 3 piece springsPosted Image

More work today..neatly finished but not quite... :comp:/> :comp:/>

decided to sort out the Front lower suspension arms and the anti-roll bar bushes too, as they were pretty perished...

new 'D' bush and retainer installed..

Posted Image

Subframe re-aligned and torqued back up...SPX tools used

Posted Image

New front Arm bushes... the part number for the larger (rear) bush has now been changed from 1042691 to 1836215 it's £6.01 + Vat (a lot cheaper than the FRP one)..
it's also VERY tight to press into the arm :comp:/>
