FRP a luxury only few can afford?

Many seem to be suffering with quite expensive problems. Given their exclusivity, is it a price worth paying. I am not convinced.....
Furthermore, given the limited dealer knowledge many have spoken of, and their problems with parts, (enter the room now Vas  ), I am glad I only have a peasant Puma at times

I reckon you did young man.
Let's face it, they are getting old, and many have been abused and not correctly maintained, by no means (always) the fault of the owner, just poor servicing and knowledge of such a specialist car. Shame

Even though I've got a problem at the moment,I STILL stand by the FRP!!
Yes, It has it's problems, but they can be sorted. Things would need to be a lot worse than a dodgy exhaust to make me give up on the FaRPy.
I think it's the nicest car Ford have ever made,I dont care if some people ((You know who you are) try and tell me that an Escort Cossie, or FRS are better made or faster.
both those cars are based on Family hatchbacks, which to me have no style. Even though I love Escorts, doesn't mean I can call them a 'Slick looking car.
Yes, the FRP needs a lot of looking after, but it IS an enthusiasts car like the original brochure said  It does cost money to look after aswell, but what doesn't  . But it's worth it to have a fantastic car that people stare at in the street even though its 4 years old. You don't hear Porsche owners complaining that they cost a lot.
Like with any car,if you buy a good one it will help you save future costs. Thats why I bought one that had some warranty left, must have saved me £1000 at least
I am a champion of the FRP, and I'm not giving up anytime soon

I think critical to FRP ownership is getting stuck in with a bit of DIY and just generally pampering the car..... I wouldn't like to be completly and utterly reliant on taking the car to any service place the first time the wheel shook a bit or brakes squeeled a bit too much..... I think the FRP with this type of owner is almost un-affordable ......
I does take a little time to get used to the car...... i kerbed all my wheels for the first few months..... now have new ones since march and havn't marked them once yet... (touching wood) also just getting used to rubbing down and re-bedding the braking system every now and again will pay dividends too...... light use will have incurr all sorts of problems.... the car does need to be driven properly.... but also respected..
Personally for me, i look at other newish cars out their, and can't help but think that the FRP is a one in a million... 8) new crash safety legislations now are dictating most modern car building... with that sloping front MPV look.. just look at the whole bloddy ford range When Big brother finally decides that petrol isn't an acceptable form of transport fuel anymore ... sports cars will gradually become museum exhibits..... not nice but true..... maybe not in my day, but defo for next generation.. :cry2: :cry2:
Gonna have fun in the meantime though... :yell: .....
But yeah, sorry, back on topic I think Vas's difficulty in getting the exhaust, yes , is an annoyance..... but let's not blow it out of proportion, i don't think it makes the car not worth having..... i'm sure the part will come in stock over the next few days, just like any other part that goes temporarily out of stock...... one of the Joys of owning a VERY limited edition car........ I aint gonna go and buy a focus just so that when my back box falls off it will be easier to replace.....

I am not, by any means blowing the Vas thing out of proportion. There are others, earlier today, with Madric, (perhaps jokingly) saying he had a mortgage for it.
If it is an enthusiasts car, and you have to get down and dirty with it, to keep it running, on the cheap, then I will never get one, 'cos my hands don't do DIY, just can't
Ah well....
