Hi all,
This is my first post after owning my Puma 1.7 W reg 1999 for six months.
The car has been absolutely superb and I have had no issues whatsoever.....until todayPosted Image

Basically Kwik Fit have quoted in the region of £400 to remedy the following-

Rear brake application uneven
Offside front brake hose excessively deteriorated
Parking brake efficiency below requirements
Rear wheel bearing rough when rotated

This seems like an awful lot of money to me to repair these faults?!
Am i missing something here or just getting ripped off?

Now i must add the advisory's which are borderline fail

Near side and offside rear subframe has slight play in pin/bush
Nearside and offside MacPherson struts front and rear have slight movement at upper attachment
Nearside front outer sill seat belt anchorage slightly corroded.

Thats everything listed.
I would be gutted to have to scrap this car as despite doing 130000 it is sweet as a nut.
I would be very grateful for any advice from you puma people.

Thanks for your time
Steve

Hi Steve,

Kwik Fit have a reputation of ripping people off and I think you may be included into that category, I'd take it to a small local garage or to someone you know and see whats up with it and what sort of prices you are looking at if anything is need doing.

Brakes and bushes are an expected item to need replacement on a car this age, just as suggested already see if you have a local good mechanic you could take it to.
It has done well if the bushes are still the originals :-)
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
