Four meetings into the season and me and my dad have had mixed success with the puma's. Both have had a few reliability problems. We disconnected the speedo's as they are not needed anyway and got rid of the plug on the top of the gearbox and it really does make the car faster! My dad has had issues with his where it keeps overheating which we have found to be the timing slightly out and mine has broken a few driveshafts where we put camber on the front N/S wheel by extending the bottom wishbone. All in all they are showing more speed and power than the other cars in the group as the others are all 2.0 Litre engines (red tops and pinto's) but they are all on carbs.

Puma on the track

This is the link to the puma on the track but it won't let me upload the picture onto here from the website where the picture is.

Standard wishbones went back on the cars this week so hopefully now they will both run better tomorrow at the meeting. Any performance tips that are cheap to make the car go faster and handle better? Doesn't need to be a legal thing as the cars will never be back on the road.

Have you modified the inlet or exhaust yet? Both are a bit restrictive! Ditch the cat - or better fit a 4-2-1 manifold as well

Are you running the standard airbox? Could do the FRP airbox mod (not big difference, but can cost nothing!)

Adding spacers on the rear beam is meant top improve high speed stability (FRP has them)

Thanks Andy. Inlet and exhaust are both standard, was thinking of a 4-2-1 manifold. We removed the standard airboxes and replaced them with mushroom air filters which make them sound a bit more meaty. Did that before they hit the track for the first time so not sure if they make them faster or not haha.

Raced the cars yesterday and another driveshaft went when I was on full lock and finally found what has broken 4 driveshafts now, the NSF suspension mount has gone and 3 coils of the spring there have fused together (not sure yet as haven't look at it close enough whether this was a purposeful thing or not. by a previous owner).

Made a few short term repairs after that to get it through the rest of the day and had to make sure it was never near full lock and the car went faster than it has done so far haha. Going to move the Suspension mount inwards on the NSF as we race clockwise on chalk oval to add camber and will see what that does to the handling as when we extended the wishbones the driveshafts kept going but when they worked they handled better.
