Hey guys

Still not convinced the exhaust sounds right on the car....

Previous post refers

http://www.pumapeople.com/forum/index.php?...=87808&st=0

I've taken a vid for you to listen to - quality not amazing, but you get the idea!! 1:05 you can hear the metallic rasps and 1:42 the machine gun popping!

I know pumas sound quite loud etc but there is an underlying 'vibration' noise that I don't think is right.

Bit like a biscuit tin on a washing machine and not a 'nice' noise...!

Decatted with a Milltek....

Let me know what you think - if it isn't right I'm sending the Miltek back to Pumaspeed

Cheers

Rob

the pops and bangs on over run are an frp trait and something to love about the car.

it sounds though like mine a few weeks ago before i had it replaced, and mine always used to blow the gasket in-between the rear box and the centre section, it always used to slightly come apart there and make the same type of buzzy noise.

with the car running check around that join as you will feel it blowing out if it is.

but it does just sound like an frp to me biggrin.gif

With my Milltek 4-2-1 there is popping on the overrun below 4krpm
Anything above that and it becomes a metallic rasp until it drops to 4k where it pops.

Can't really tell on the vid, but from your explanation I wouldn't worry about it...enjoy it! lol

if your around on Wednesday night you can always come down to the Surrey Pub meet near Camberley. I'm sure a few of us could have a listen live and compare it to mine.

Ok - that's interesting - below 4krpm mine pops like mad and OVER 4krpm is when it rasps !!

Sorry if I sound like I'm worrying - I'm a car perfectionist so wanna make sure its all ok.

My Milltek on the FRS sounded totally different although I appreciate they're totally different cars

If you look under the meets section for Oct 08.

Meet at The Quays, just off the A331, near Mychett at 8pm for some food and a drink.

if you are a perfectionist then fit what it should have smile.gif

searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Mines the same: coming down, it rasps above 4k and pops below 4k. I've got a Piper FRP exhaust, sports cat and 4-2-1 manifold from Pumabuild.
2000/X 1.7, SS Piper/FRP exhaust system + manifold, Green panel filter, FRP airbox mod + 3" feed to front grill, Pumabuild FRP ECU map (Dreamscience 3000), EBC grooved discs + Green stuff pads, SS brake hoses, Toyo Proxes T1-R all round, AP Coilovers (running at -35mm), Powerflex bushes + ford uprated bushes on rear of front wishbone, 10mm rear hub spacers, Halfords Super Bright Xenon headlight bulbs, big Alpine ICE system with iPOD control.
