I am really embarrassed to ask this but hey, I have no pride tongue.gif

As far as I gather, to fit the plastic screws that hold the mats in place, you just need to mark where the hole should be and stab it with something pointy? But one of the instruction pics shows tape and I am not sure why! Is it as simple as I think or am I missing something?

I have never fixed mine down - easier to get out and shake. They don't move around as they are in a deep well so what is the point?

I see your point and I thought that too but then again the holes look silly without the screws in them! It looks like the mats come out still if you twist the screw top though, so shaking them out would still be possible.

You can put a bit of tape on the carpet, mark it with a pen, then remove the mat and pierce the carpet. I used a Stanley knife.

So the point of the tape is to be extra pedantic about the precise positioning and nothing more important than that? I think I'll just stab it tongue.gif

Its so you don't slip and get a knife through a finger I suppose. I just stabbed it as well.

I fitted some puma mat's that my partner brought a few weeks ago.

I found it to be very difficult as the carpet is quite thin and has no underlay so to speak, so i found it difficult to get the plastic screw to bite into or get the carpet to lift on the plastic threaded screw ja_stupid.gif

My first attemp was a failure and i broke a plastic screw in anger and frustration, so a quick trip to my local Ford dealer to see if i could buy some replacements.

I found the best way to get the plastic screw to fit was to trim the end with a stanly knife to shorten the depth from 15mm, taking maybe about a turn and a half from the tip. The Puma carpets are just not thick enough to need the depth of the supplied screws.

use a bradawl or a thin slotted screwdriver to start the hole .saves losing any fingers and doesnt make the hole to big so its got good grip then theres no need to cut them down.put the mats in position mark centre of hole, lift up mat, screw plastic thing in carpet.drop mat back over ,twist plastic thing.job done good.gif thats how i did mine wink.gif

that'll dink dank do for me !!

the "screws" are long to keep them in place when you're driving shuffling your feet about laugh.gif

little bit of agro to do it but in my opinion they're definitely worth fitting 10.gif

Definitely use the location screws.

My Ford Milly mats don't have any and they are moving about all the time, I swear they move even when I brake. I'm constantly bending down and pulling them up. You don't want mats going onto your pedals (the cause of many an accident) ohmy.gif

I might have to modify mine to keep them still, or buy a whole new set (in bright yellow cool.gif )

Mine are missing the screws too, got some new ones from Ford but ended up snapping them trying to fit them, going to use some velcro instead to hold em down now!

I was just thinking of that too some Velcro stick on tape, you can buy that out of B&Q homecare.
